Affidavit of Support and partially dependent children

I am nearing the interview stage of the K1 process and had a question about the affidavit of support. I have two kids that don't currently live with me, but I am paying child support. I assume this would put them in the "partially dependent" category on the affidavit of support (since they are also dependent on their mother and her fiance with whom they reside). Although I pay child support, I do not have any custody whatsoever (but that's another story). In such a case, are they counted as full members of the household for the purpose of establishing poverty guidelines, or is it calculated in some other way? I meet poverty guidelines for 3 people, but not for 4. Please let me know if anyone has some experience with this. Your advice is greatly appreciated!

For the I-134 and I-864 they are counted as household members regardless of where they live. There are exceptions for emancipated children. But that is not very common.

See this FAQ for the I-864 from the State Dept. website. >> http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/in...tml#_How_do_you

Read this: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-864.pdf it's not the form you need right now but it DOES discuss the household size in a lot better detail. Page 2, first column at the bottom is the question "how do i count household size?"

That should explain it better than I could.
