Hello everyone, this is my first post here!

I'm posting because after getting a interview cancellation notice two months ago I still haven't had it rescheduled yet and I'm starting to be worried :(

I applied for AOS from K-1 visa in July. Received EAD very late (november, even though the card is dated august..) because they forgot to schedule my biometrics and only noticed it once I scheduled an infopass appointment for interim EAD.

In November I received an interview notice, followed after only two days by a cancellation notice ("due to unforeseen circumstances"). I scheduled an infopass appointment and all the officer said was that they needed to do more reviewing. After not hearing anything for two months I tried calling customer service who filed a service request for being outside of processing times. Today I got a mail that says that they're processing the case, but they've needed to do additional review and to contact them again if I do not hear from them in the next 6 months :(

I also need to add that my case status online never changed during all this time... it's still in "acceptance" phase.

I am starting to be worried as I can't understand why they would schedule an interview and then after two days suddenly notice that they need additional reviewing... it doesn't help that I can't seem to get any information from them about what's exactly going on. I'll be trying with infopass again in the next days, but I was wondering if anyone had an experience similar to mine.

Thank you in advance for reading this wall of text!

Hello Arren.

On December 24, 2009 I got the same letter cancelling my AOS interview which was scheduled for January 5. So I immediately made an infopass appointment at my local USCIS office December 28. They did not give me any information on my case, just told me to wait for a reschedule letter.

So My husband and I decided to show up at the original interview on January 5th anyway, as some people in VJ had recommended, and since our file was in the office, the officer interviewed us that day at 2:00 pm (three hours later).

The interview lasted one hour and a half. At first the officer (woman) was so mean to us because she noticed that my husband was extremely nervous. So within one minute of us entering her office, she said with a rude tone "sorry, I cannot see you today because obviously you guys are not ready to have this interview today, and i'm not ready for this neither." I looked at her straight in the eyes, and said with a relax and confident tone "ok no problem, we can come back.". So to make this story shorter, she then decided to go on with the interview. The officer asked so many questions I was not expecting. After that she was so friendly, we were joking and laughing. She even took at look at our wedding album (she was smiling). ... she told me that My G325 was missing, and that I needed to mail that form as soon as possible along with 2 passport size photo, then she collected our proof of evidence (Utility bills, joint bank statements, Car title, etc) And finally she made my husband sign some documents.

Today, we are still waiting for the decision on our case, but I am so glad we showed up that day because our application was incomplete.

I hope this was helpful to you, and I apologize for writing such a long reply.

Thank you for your reply!

Sadly back when my interview was cancelled I didn't think about trying to show up to the interview anyway, so my chance is gone :( I just wish I could know what they're doing with my case right now, I finally managed to check my online portfolio on uscis site and last update was on 12/1 :/

Best of luck with your case, hopefully you'll receive approval soon!

You state your case is out of processing time, so have you tried contacting your Senator's and Congressman's office? Sometimes this will help, especially if the Senator has been in office for a long time. The Senate has a committee that oversees the USCIS.

I contacted two Senators and a Congressman on the delays in my wife's visa. There was a big difference in the time and results in their help. I would suggest doing the same for this reason.

Naturalization

3/23/14 - N400 package sent to Phoenix

3/27/14 - N400 package delivered

4/3/14 - NOA1 receipt date

4/4/14 - check cashed

04/29/14 - biometrics date

07/01/14 - interview date

xx/xx/xx - Oath Ceremony

Thank you for your suggestion. I haven't tried contacting anyone yet but it sounds like something that I should definitely do. Since I have a infopass scheduled for tomorrow I guess I'll see if they give me any information, and if not I might try the senator/congressman way.

Thank you again!

Make sure you bring the interview cancellation letter to the INFOPASS appt in case you get news that your case has been denied due to "failure to appear for initial interview" as happens occasionally.

Thanks for replying :) Sadly I had to cancel my appointment tomorrow due to being called in for work, but I did bring my cancellation letter to a previous appointment, so hopefully I won't get denied because of failure to appear ><

Hi. I would like to ask you what happened to your case after you didn't show up? Did you received denial letter? I just experienced the same. I received a call that my interview got cancelled coz they haven't received my documents yet from their main office and they will mail me new letter for my new schedule but after a week of my original schedule, I received a denial notice for not showing up on my interview. What the heck? It's not my fault.

Hi

Looks like the person you were asking a question to hasn't signed on since November 12th 2012, maybe there was a miss communication within the office.   You should try and call them and explain to them what happened,.

I called their hotline number a lot of times and all the agents have the same answer. They want me to file motion to reopen the case but we have to pay $675. What a joke! I mailed a letter to Fresno uscis branch and hope I’ll receive a reply next week. I can also ask help to our congressman here.
