My fiancee is from the Philippines and has worked in two other countries for more than 6 months at a time. Currently she is in Taiwan and will be getting her police records before she goes back home. However, about 2 years ago she returned from Brunei after working there for 8 months. She is worried that they will not send her police records since she is not a citizen. I hope this is not the case. What is the best way for her to request and receive her police records without having to travel there? Also, once she has police records from Brunei and Taiwan, does she also need to get something from the Philippines? She lived in three different places in the Philippines since she was 16. Does she need something for each place? I guess I'm not really clear on what she will need. Thanks for your help.

Hello James and Cynthia!

Police certificates can be obtained in Brunei within approximately two weeks. When requesting a police clearance certificate, an applicant must submit the following:

  • Photocopy of his/her current passport.
  • Photocopy of his/her Brunei identity card, if available.
  • Evidence of the duration of the applicant's residency in Brunei.
  • Fee of fifty Brunei dollars.

The above items should be sent to:

The Commissioner

Royal Brunei Police Force

Gadong Headquarters

Bandar Seri Begawan

Attn: Awg Mohammad Abdullah - Translator

If the applicant lives outside of Brunei, a request for a police certificate, along with the required passport and identity card photocopies, may be sent to the Embassy by courier service.

Brunei criminal records are permanently stored in the police computer archives. The records are indexed by family name and identity card numbers.

Here is the source of the info above.

Aside from the police certificates from both Brunei and Taiwan, the NBI clearance is also necessary.

As for the complete requirements for the K1 visa interview in Manila, follow the link below:

http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwfk1en.pdf

Contact the Brunei Embassy and find out if you could get a police clearance through them to confirm what travel.state.gov has stated.

One of the reasons why the visa process gets delayed is the absence of the police clearance. Do something as early as you can.

Hakuna matata.

My wife was in Indonesia a year. The US Embassy Manila was no help to us. I contacted the Indonesian embassy in the Philippines, and they took care of it for us. Hopefully the same will work for you with Brunei

Hello!

She can get all police clearance where she lived outside her country to the Embassy of what particular country she stayed in the Phils more than 6 months. She can check the website The Embassy of Brunei in the Phils. For taiwan I am not so sure if ok to start working on the police clearance while waiting on the NOA2? Get more info on this matter, if she can start working with the police clearance without the approval of NOA2? when she decided to leave Taiwan, well she can get in the Phils through Taiwan Embassy.. I am just worried if the CO will question her why she took in advance..I am not so sure...so maybe some inputs from others in VJ..

Good luck on your journey!!!

We've trying calling this phone number several times now. Each time, we get put on hold for someone else, but no one ever picks up? Does this mean the only thing left to do is to sent money to Brunei as suggested above? I'v afraid we won't get any help and we'll only be waiting for nothing.

why didn't you mail off a packet to brunei, in january ? http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/237698-how-to-receive-police-records-from-brunei/page__view__findpost__p__3639969

Stop trying to use the phone, and handle it all via postal, instead.

Good Luck !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Good Luck !

We haven't sent the packet by mail because we are not in a big hurry yet, so we were hoping we might be able to do it through the phone. But I guess not. I still haven't filed the I-129F yet because I'm waiting on some other things. Hopefully I can file next month.

In the mean time, we will go ahead and send a request for her police clearance from Brunei. However, I still have a couple questions. The advice above says that if she doesn't live in Brunei, she can send the request to the embassy along with the required photocopies. Does she still need to send 50 Brunei dollars? If not, is there a fee? Can she, or should she, send the request to the embassy in Taiwan instead of in the Philippines since that's where she'll be living until August? Any help with my questions would be great. Thanks.
