Hi, i'm new here. Hope you may give me some advice.

I became a US citizen recently. I am petitioning my mother (from China) to immigrant to USA. I just sent I-130 at the end of Dec and received NOA1 yesterday 1/11/10. I know it's going to take about 2 months for I-130 to be approved. And then they will forward it to NVC.

What is next to expect? Will NVC send me a notification as soon as they receive my case Or not? I saw some people called NVC to get a case# and register their emails. Is that the right way to do it? And after you register your email, does it mean all forms and payment notifications will be sent to us via email only?

When is the time for me to send documents about my mother? Like her birth cert and police cert... She is divorced. Do we need to send NVC her divorce paper or not necessary? I just want to tell my mother to start preparing all of them now as she has not got any certificates yet. What paperwork does she need to mail me from overseas? Birth Certificate, Police Cert, 2 passport photos, copy of her passport, anything else?

Thank you for your help.

Have a read for NVC Electronic Processing - http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/...onic_Processing

Also, read the NVC Appointment Processing site - all 7 pages -

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3190.html

I suggest she get her notarial translation documents done the same week that YOU receive the NOA-2.

When you 'get there' - pay attention to the electronic payment portal - it's the best way to understand status for 'whats next' to send.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Once the I-130 is approved you will receive Approved Notice from USCIS. Once it is approved the file is transferred to NVC. Give a week or two after the I-130 approval and call NVC and check if your file has received....call until the file is received and once the file is received by NVC they will give assign a case number to your case and you can register emails for petitioner and beneficiary and then the process will be through emails.

Here is the document that i used...probably will help you....

Once you know that the I-130 have been sent to the NVC you can start calling them, I did this every day until I got the case number.

NVC phone number 603-334-0700

You need to speak to a officer so skip the automated service by pressing 1 then 5 after you get through.

Once you have the case number you need to give the operator the email addresses for you and your parents.

Next you need to email the NVC the DS-3230 choice of agent. Use this template for the email.

http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Email_DS-3032_form

DS-3032

http://www.state.gov/documents/organization/80023.pdf

Next you will get a email from the NVC telling you the petitioner that you need to pay the AOS fee bill it will give you the link to the NVC payment site where you will pay the fee using a credit card or debit card.

You only need to pay $70.00 once as both your parents cases are linked and they only charge once.

Once that is paid you will print out a barcode coversheet from the payment site for each parent you will need to attach one to each AOS packet that you have made for each parent

I-864 – AOS Packet

See the link below for full details of what you need to send with the I-864

http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...00045f3d6a1RCRD

You will receive another email telling you that the DS-3032 has been accepted and telling you that the DS-230 IV fee bill should now be paid. $400.00 each parent. You will go back to the NVC payment site to do this.

[/size]

DS-230

http://travel.state.gov/pdf/DS-0230.pdf

Again once it shows as paid you will print out another barcode coversheet to include with the DS-230 for each parent. You will need to include Originals of the following documents for each parent.

BIRTH CERTIFICATES

ADOPTION PAPERS

MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE

MARRIAGE TERMINATION (DIVORCE)

COURT RECORDS

MILITARY RECORDS

POLICE CERTIFICATE

2 PHOTOGRAPHS

Beneficiaries Photocopy of Valid Passport Biographic Data Page

PETITIONER MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE FOR ALL MARRIAGES

PETITIONER BIRTH CERTIFICATE

You can use the time that the I-130 is being processed to gather all the above document together so that you have them ready to send as soon as you get to each step at NVC.

Once all the paperwork has been received at NVC they will review your parents cases this can take anything from a few days to a few weeks.

Once the review is complete then you will get a email telling you that the case is complete and has been forwarded to the embassy in your parents country.

You will also get a interview letter telling you the date of the interview and a link to the Embassy website with instructions on how to get the medical done and instructions for the interview.

What you need to do is, you send one complete set of original documents with the Barcode coversheet of one parent and then for the other parent you have to attach to their Barcode Copversheet a photocopy of the original document and write on it "Original Held In Case # LND2009****** " You must do that for every document that is not the original.

Also when you come to paying the AOS Fee Bill you only need to pay this once, when you go on-line to pay it you will see that it says "includes another case" and it will link to other parent's case so that you can print out the Barcode Coversheet for them both.

I had my parents sign the DS230 and I then completed it and had all the certifdicates and police report ready to mail as soon as I had paid the IV fee bill and could print the barcode coversheet.

Once NVC get the DS230 they review all the paperwork and once this is done the case is then complete and you will get a interview date and the case paperwork will be forwarded to the embassy. You will then get a email with the interview instructions and instructions for the medical.

One hint I can give you is that when you are paying the AOS fee bill you will only have to pay $70 as both cases will be linked and they only charge the $70 once.

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3195.html

Once the AOS is paid and you have printed the Barcode coversheet, you need to download the I-864 and complete attatch all the documents required and then mail it to NVC. The full instructions on what you need to do are on the NVC payment site on the right hand side of the page, just click the link.

It can take two weeks + before the DS-3032 is entered into the NVC system. Use the time to gather together all the paperwork for the DS-230 so that once the DS-3032 has been accepted you can pay the IV Bill and then mail the DS-230

Good Luck with the process..Thanks, Raj

BeneficiaryMARRIAGE TERMINATION (DIVORCE)

BeneficiaryCOURT RECORDS

Beneficiary POLICE CERTIFICATE

Among all above documents, do they need to be all originals when sent to NVC?

Does my mother need to get a notarized certification of MARRIAGE TERMINATION (DIVORCE) in English? I know Police cert is 'no criminal record'.

court records - if any criminal background, if convicted of a crime (your mother) - i'm guessing she's not been convicted, much less charged with anything, right?

for all documents at NVC (did you read that NVC link? - click it ?? ) - must be originals.

For Chinese Documents, each District has a Notarial Translation Office, to translate from Chinese into English, then Notarize that the translation is accurate - each translation made, generates a 'white book' ... there's a name for it - it's in the China Portal Here - i'll follow up later.

Yes, she needs her divorce document translated, since Ba is not coming over, right?

if not divorce document, then Ba's death certificate.

Since Ma is is China, YOU can opt in for NVC Electronic Processing - SHE can scan all in China, email to you, you can rebundle (if you read the NVC Electronic Processing wiki page on 'how to do' ) and then you can submit to NVC, at the proper time.

Good Luck ! (and please start reading those links I put out here ).

Good Luck !

reL Raj486's instructions -

The DS-3032 is not linked to anything, but is an 'end process' - you don't have to wait at all, for it to be accepted.

INSTEAD - monitor the online payment portal - every day - twice - once at 3:10 PM EST, again at 10:00 PM EST (these are the update times, btw ) - then when something shows up as 'available to pay', pay it, then wait another day, get the receipt.

with the coversheet and the receipt- then scan in all those documents, make one bundle (or two ) for a document set -

OPTING IN for NVC Electronic Filing is easy. but takes a week or so at the front end - then you monitor the payment portal for what to do next.

NVC Electronic Filing is a bit 'off' as the stages are never clear (except at the payment portal ) - but will

SHAVE OFF 2 to 5 months of waiting time , between NVC OUT and GUZ open.

Usually, the appointment is set within 3 days of NVC COMPLETE. Which, of course, is mondo cool.

Let me know if I've not made any sense (read me 3 times, ah? )

Warmest Regards.

There are two routes, for GUZ-bound petitions, for NVC Processing.

Paper, and Electronic

If you decide to go paper processing, you will need the originals in your hands, in the USA, to send off with the forms. Originals not need to be shown on interview day.

If you decide to do electronic processing, then you NOT need originals in your hands, but Ma needs to scan them, email to you (check my NVC Electronic Processing Wiki Page ) . Originals MUST BE SHOWN on interview day.

The police certificate has some aging to it - must be within 1 year of issuance, but everything else has no 'expiration date' for NVC.

For GUZ, there is a specific supplement form to be sent in - see http://travel.state.gov/pdf/pk3_supplement...T-0004-0904.pdf

and download it. It's used to 'get the address right' for a beneficiary, must be sent in with the DS-230.

and download it. It's used to 'get the address right' for a beneficiary, must be sent in with the DS-230.

I read all your links and got 80% of the ideas. I'm not confident that I got it all. I will do electronic processing. Here is what i have understood. If i'm mistaken, please point it out. I also have a few more questions.

The steps will be like this after I-130 NOA2 is received.

1.Call NVC, get GUZ #, give them email addresses of petitioner and beneficiary. NVC preps a 'DS-3032 kit', emails it to petitioner.

2.Receive DS-3032 kit via email. (non-fillable DS-3032 pdf file, barcode info, and the AOS Bill link )

3.Email to NVCGuangzhou@state.gov with completed DS-3032 form (PDF version, SIGNED by Petitioner by hand & rescanned) along with the applicant's name, e-mail address, and date of birth; the petitioner's name, e-mail address and date of birth in the body of the email.

4.Pay the AOS bill $70 online and wait.

5.Register to view the new invoices/payment receipts

6.When the AOS bill shows 'paid' - send in the I-864 with the Coversheet and AOS receipt printed to pdf file.

7.When the IV bill shows up online to be paid - pay it, and wait.

8.When IV bill shows as 'paid' - send in the ds-230 with the IV Coversheet, IV receipt printed to pdf file.

9.When payment login ID no longer works, 'NVC Case Complete' - call NVC to verify.

Question:

Step 1: Shall I tell the Operator that i will do electronic processing, so they only need to email me the 3032 kit, no need to mail?

Step 2: What shall i do with the barcode info? Electronic process does not need barcode info, correct? It's only for paper processing.

Step 3 & 4: Does it matter which step should be done first and after?

Step 6: What is the coversheet? I-864 needs to be emailed to NVC or mailed? I read some people mail it to NVC... But it mentioned that no paper documents should be sent to NVC if we choose to do electronic processing...

Step 8: The supplement form needs to be sent in with DS-230 form via email in this step, is that correct? http://travel.state.gov/pdf/pk3_supplement...T-0004-0904.pdf

Which step is the one that I need to email NVC with my mother's documents (birth cert, police cert, divorce paper, photocopy of passport bio-page)? Shall I also include all my paperwork (marriage cert, birth cert, naturalization cert) with my mother's together?

How about my mother's passport photo and my passport photo? How can we send it to NVC via email? Just scan them throug PDF file as well?

I'm still learning and hope you can help clarify. Thank you very much.

Step 8 - yes

Step 6 - coversheet comes in via email and online payment portal. send it in with YOUR email to NVC.

Step 3 n 4 - no.

Step 2 - hang on to it - sorry, i've got it backwards - you must scan in the barcode coversheet, email it with each set o stuff - there are 2 - one for I-864, one for DS-230.

Step 1 - won't matter - they will send you the DS-3032 kit regardless.

If you are going electronic, remember - is no postal mail, is no courier delivery - all is 'via email' to the special GUZ/NVC email address.

Just scan them through PDF file as well?
