Hello, I really need some help. My fiancee's interview is on Oct. 20, 2009 at the U.S. Embassy in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E. That's great, but we have a problem. She needs her police certificate from Singapore, and they require a bank draft of $50.00 Singapore dollars. I have tried several banks and even online "Bank draft specialists" and can't get any help. The banks tell me they don't do international bank drafts any more and the online people say nobody will do a bank draft for an amount that small (it exchanges to about $36.50 USD). I really appreciate any and all help or suggestions! By the way, the reason we are this late at applying for this police cert is that Singapore Police won't issue the cert without an official document from the requesting immigration authority, and we just received our instruction packet on the 18th. That left us with barely over a month until her interview! Thankfully, she has her other certs already. Thank you for reading this and for any help or suggestions!

They'll make the wire transfer in SGD.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Thank you Darnell! I have spoken with the Singapore Police and they say it must be a bank draft made payable to them through a Singapore-based bank. They want payment in bank note so it can be sent along with all the docs, fingerprints and application papers. Thank you for your reply Darnell, I really do appreciate any and all suggestions!

I had lived in Singapore for a year, so I'm trying to think just what you can do.

HSBC has branches in Singapore, as well as the U.S.A. Other countries, too.

They MIGHT be able to do a 'one-off' for you - it's certainly worth a try. Give em a call, see what they can do for you.

Other than that, I'm stumped (unless you have a friend in Singapore ).

Citibank refused to issue a draft in SIngapore dollars. They will do a wire transfer to the Singapore police in S$, but SIngapore police refuse that. Police want paper draft in S$ and bank refuses to issue in Singapore dollars.

Does anybody specifically know HSBC's policy on that?

What is a "one off"?

SUCCESS!

HSBC issued the draft. THey are a bit pricey but they got us what we needed. Candy got it in Hong Kong with a service charge that came out to about $12. Here in US they would have charged $30. But there you go for all of you who need this draft, HSBC is the solution.
