Does anyone have any innovative ideas on keeping track?

We obviously don't want to miss the window for this so has anyone found a way to keep track on when its time to remove conditions. Obviously year calenders won't work and my constant need to have the next flashy piece of electronic gadgetry means I rarely keep a phone or blackberry for more then 12 or 13 months.

Maybe a tattoo lol?

Google calendar (can send an email or/and SMS when it's due) or rememberthemilk.com (electronic TO DO & notification system). Both free.

A note on the fridge? Worked for us and then of course the friendly reminder from USCIS even though we knew when to lift conditions.

I-751 is a very serious form you file with USCIS and I do understand that with busy lives one tend to forget such thing but it's very important that you remember it. I will repeat what other folks said and add few of my suggestions.

Calculate the 90 days window for your I-751

use this http://www.timeanddate.com/date/dateadd.html

to calculate 90 days by subtracting from 2 years add to your GC card. e.g. resident since 04-01-08 and expires 03-31-10 etc.

Now you can print out calender for 2010 from online for that month and mark it on start of 90 day window "File I-751".

Add a reminder on gmail calender on the start of 90 day to send you an email 1 day before.

Add a reminder on the fridge on paper.

Add an alarm or event on your or your wife's cell phone with description "file i-751

or

lastly use this

Not sure about anyone else, but it's much easier to use a service like rememberthemilk.com or Google calendar which does the exact same thing with the added benefit of creating a layer of abstraction between you and your cell phone provider. That is, with GC or RTM, you just pick your cell phone provider from a list and type in your number without having to know about the email address format your provider uses to forward emails to your phone. Using the approach listed above has several potential problems:

1.) Sending SMS messages to your phone via the associated email address your cell provider uses is a bit kludgey. Not sure if you've ever compared messages received via your phone's email address versus messages sent through an actual SMS gateway, but the latter looks much cleaner.

2.) You run the risk of not getting the message if your cell phone provider either changes the associated email addresses or decides not to support that avenue at any point in the future.

3.) Not all cell phone providers publish/create an email address that forwards messages to your phone. For those providers, you need to send the message from an actual SMS gateway (or use a service that already has access to one, such as GC or RTM).

Both services also allow you to receive notifications via email, among other methods, as well.

Afterthought: RememberTheMilk might not actually have access to an SMS gateway, and might actually keep a table of the email addresses associated with the different providers they support (not 100% positive about this, might be wrong). This might explain why they don't support some specific providers (those without published email addresses). Still, if these addresses change, RTM is on the hook to maintain their tables, not you. However, I'm positive that Google DOES have its own SMS gateway.
