Hi VJ members,

I am so happy to write that my husband got his visa on july 9th.I was also in India and just got back.

I am so glad that its finally done and I thank all the VJ members for the support.

I wish all the new members the very best for the journey.

Our experience is as follows

The interview was scheduled at 0730 on july 9th.We arrived at the VFS by 0630 ( we had taken star and stripes lounge

coupon(Rs250 per person)for both of us at the time we submitted our documents at VFS)There were 12-15 people in line,at 0650 the security let us in as we had the interview at 0730.they also have locker facility as we can not carry handbag ,cds, dvds, stapler etc inside the consulate..Vfs checks the interview letter and makes us sit in a small lounge where a snack and coffee is served. The security told that US citizen cannot enter the consulate and can wait in the lounge or wait outside the consulate.I decided to wait outside the consulate. At 0720 they asked us all having 0730 interview to get into a bus outside Vfs.We were at the consulate by 0725.There was a long line outside the consulate. The vfs employee then took everyone inside.I started my long wait outside.

On entering they checked the interview letter and asked him to go to counter no.2 where he had his fingerprints taken.he was then asked to wait in the lounge and his name was called in 5 mins.An Indian consular officer gave his originals back and asked him the following questions

WHO IS CALLING YOU?

WHEN DID YOU GET MARRIED?

WHEN AND WHERE DID YOU BOTH MEET?

then she asked him to wait in the lounge. The security asked him to wait in the lounge for immigrant visas .

He waited there till 0125pm and I was getting all tensed up outside. Please be prepared for a long wait ,if you decide to be outside the consulate have some snack, water and cellphone or else you can wait in VFS .

K3 visas didnt take long but those for immigrant visas had to wait longer.

At 0125pm his name was called and an American officer asked the following questions

Do you understand English?

He then asked my husband to raise his hand and say that whatever is written is true....

WHO IS YOUR PETITIONER

WHO FILED FOR HER

WHEN DID SHE GO TO US

WHERE DOES SHE STAY

WHAT IS SHE WORKING AS

WAS IT AN ARRANGED MARRIAGE

WHO ARRANGED THE MARRIAGE

SHOW ME YOUR MARRIAGE PICTURES

he then looked at the first two pictures and said

CONGRATULATIONS YOUR VISA IS APPROVED and wished him all the best

He came out at 0130 pm.

We went to VFS at 0430 pm and there was a long line.At 5pm the security asked the ones for immigrant visas(immigration) to make a separate line.He was let in and he had to show the VFS receipt and proof of identity(PAN card or drivers licence)they have a copier inside .He got a grey envelope with his passport and a packet inside. We took out our passport from the grey envelope but the sealed envelope in the grey packet should not be opened and has to be shown at port of entry. We were on our way back by 515pm.

Hope the description helps those waiting for the interview. We took xray report wih us but no need to carry it as they only ask for it at port of entry.

good luck to all
