Yes its a bothersome situation from Gujurat, other VJ members from Gujurat may clarify, but from what I have read, you can call up NVC and explain your situation, most likely NVC will ask you to send the package without police station PCC but with Passport office PCC, and NVC will complete your case and forward it to Mumbai consulate for the interview, once you receive interview date and interview letter......go to Police station and obtain PCC and you will have to submit the same at Mumbai consulate either during the day of interview or at VFS.

Well im not 100% sure about Gujrat but here in Hyderabad I had given the Checklist I recieved from NVC which stated that the PCC from the Passport Office and District Police Office is mandatory and it was ok with them and we were given the PCC but it did take bout 2 weeks for us to recieve it after all sort of unnecessary verifacations. We had to go to the main police commisioners office tho to get it done!!!

You DO NOT NEED interview letter to get PCC from your local DSP office.

My wife just went through this in Gujarat (Anand) so here is what you need to do. To get PCC from DSP's office you will have to show your AOS2/ Choice of agent form with name and barcode/ IV paid receipt. It is good to take all of these documents when you go to DSP's office. From my experience what they want is to they try to get money out of you so they ask you to get all the different documents. Also if you wife hasn't changed her middle name (Add your name) in her passport, you will be ask to do that. I would suggest find someone who knows people in DSP's office and try to get your work done. Else insist that you don't need Interview letter to get PCC from DSP's office.

When it comes to PCC from Passport office I know that Passport office in Ahmedabad asks for Interview letter. Getting PCC from there without Interview letter is tough. NVC knows about that and I have called NVC to confirm that you don’t have to send PCC from Passport office with your IV package. Just state in your cover letter that PCC from Passport office will be shown during interview.

I have also confirmed by calling NVC twice that they accept copy of PCC. DSP office will only give you one copy of PCC and that you will need to get your PCC from Passport office. So once your wife gets DSP office PCC tell her to email you a copy and keep original with you. State in your cover letter that you are sending a copy and original will be shown during interview.

Don't waste much time on trying to get PCC from Ahmedabad Passport office until you have interview letter.

Thanks,

i will do that. let see what happens. one more question. my wife's passport is in the process (fresh passport with my name). Most probably she will have received next week. Since she has new passport, i am thinking not to attached even PCC from local police station. do u think it will work with NVC? NVC can know this by looking copy of biographic page of passport. i will mention both matter in the letter which i am going to write to NVC for ds-230 package.

1. Since her passort is a fresh passport, local PCC is not included in the package.

2. Passport office PCC will be shown at the time of interview due to interview letter requirement from passport office.

What Do u think about this?

Yes that should work. One more thing I learned is that if you already have Interview letter getting PCC is much faster and skips couple of steps. If you don’t have interview letter, then once you get PCC from DSP office you have to go to Gandhinagar to get is stamped before you go to Ahmedabad Passport Office. This step is not required if you have interview letter in hand.

Also I will be more clear on your explanation in letter to NVC on where are you getting the information. Just say according to Reciprocity list for India you don’t need Local PCC if you have new Passport. For Passport office PCC say that you talked to NVC operator.
