So just finished my visa interview and got a 221(g), because we have to send in an updated I-864, an updated police certain and an English "person bevis". They kept my passport though, so I'm hoping that's a good thing?! :)

The thing is, I'm born in the 70's and three different people at the Swedish Tax office has told me that the "personbevis" with parents name' and all is not available in English for people born that "early". Anyone else on here had the same issue?

Also, they didn't take my two photos and I didn't realize that until I got to the hotel... :( Do they not do that anymore or did she forget? Because the Swedish/Finnish woman I spoke to first was a real piece of work and maybe she forgot to ask for my photos?! OMG I wanted to slap her, we were having quite a discussion about the I-864a, for assets in my name. I even had the instructions with me that stated that if the assets are in the intended immigrants name, there's no need to do an I-864a and this woman basically said she was right and the US State department's instructions for the I-864 and the I-864a were wrong....

But the man actually conducting the interview was really nice and professional.

Don't worry about the photos, I don't even know why they ask for them. For the visa they will use whatever picture you used for the electronic visa application thing you did prior to your interview.

At the Tax Office did you tell them it was for a visa interview? Did they not even ask to put it there manually if they had it on file? I got a custom one made when I needed all kinds of unnecessary info to get a new passport just because I'm registered abroad. She even put down the name of my husband.

Your other option is to get your baptismal records and have them translated by kammarkollegiet. The place you get the baptismal records from don't do it in English anymore for some stupid reason.

I was born in 1977 and I got personbevis in English for the visa application. And I have requested a couple since I moved over too. Never a problem. I've gotten both the long version and the shorter version.

I went to Skatteverket/Försäkringskassan today, for some reason they're put together in Malmo... Spoke to an older man who knew exactly how everything works and because the personbevis I originally got, the wrong one, was signed, he found the person who issued it and gave her a lecture in what's needed for a US visa. Safe to say she won't do that mistake again. :D

So now I have the correct personbevis. I've requested my new police cert and waiting for the new signed i-864 from my husband. Feels like we're on track. Just sucks that we have to wait another month now. After a 16 month process, we were really looking forward to being done with this visa process. Guess everything happens for a reason.

Congrats!!

However, I would assume 2 weeks from date of issue.

Probably less than that, but assume +/- January 5th.

It's Christmas (and New Years) after all.
