Every time I see that G&T in your sig, Agnes, I get thirsty. I have no idea why.

The condensation on a G&T glass is hard to resist!

Hi, ladies

Baby update, UK version: I had the anatomy ultrasound Friday, and we're having a girl. Jon is now favoring "Limita" over "Limitus."

As I mentioned in my first Baby Corner appearance, everything looks fine except for the location of where the cord & placenta meet. It took both the tech and the doctor himself a while to find this point, partly because little Limita was moving a lot. Eventually, the doctor found it, and it's quite close to the edge of the placenta (ideally, it's somewhere in the middle). In some cases, this can cause growth problems, but it's often not a problem. Apparently it may correct itself over time and move in toward the middle. I can tell ya...listening to the doctor say, "Huh...." in a sort of quizzical tone several times while he was trying to find it was a little unnerving. He maintained a light tone, and so far, the baby's measurements are all in the normal range, so I know I should chill out. That said, Googling this stuff is always a bad idea because people's horror stories are always the first to pop up. I'm pretty sure my situation is called "marginal cord insertion." There isn't much information on it, perhaps because there's nothing they can do about it. That I'm a champion worrier isn't helping things. Anyhoo, that's the latest...

I firmly believe all with be well with Limita. :) Thinking the grooviest of thoughts of you and your family from here in beautiful downtown Burbank. star_smile.gif

Aw, thanks, Maven. I guess the plus side is that I'll get to see more shots of the wee one than I would normally (at $40 a pop, no doubt).

Just came back from the vet. My baby Georgelington Flapford IV (aka "George") has a stomach bug -- vets aren't sure if it's a virus or a bacterial infection, but the prognosis is pretty good. I was kittensitting this weekend and George became very attached to the babies -- the vet thinks he might have gotten something from them. :( But he should be right as rain very shortly. Right now he is in his bed next to my desk in my study, looking out the window at the hummingbirds and our neighbours. In the meantime, here's a video of him grooming his babies from the other day.

Congrats on your daughter - Limita  How exciting!

DO NOT get on the internet about this stuff - you'll read every worst case scenario and horror store in the book. I have heard of 'marginal cord insertion' too. I am also a champion worrier but if there's nothing you can do, and your doc is aware and monitoring, then you're doing everything you CAN do. The fact that the baby is growing normally at this point is also a really good sign.

I have my 34 week prenatal appt today and can go this week and pre register at the hospital. Starting to get even more nervous now about the actual process of giving birth.

Maven - SO sorry to hear about George!! I hope he gets back to his old self soon!!

Oh and that video is TOO CUTE!!

Thanks for the support, ladies. Must think positive Limita thoughts...

Several people at Jon's workplace are expecting wee rugrats within the next few months, so someone organized a "stork lunch" that took place yesterday (fortunately, we spouses weren't included). They pulled numbers from a hat to have the pick of some small baby-type gifts. Jon drew a 1 and got first pick. His selection was what he described as a "demented lamb." I present to you Limita's first toy:

OMG I love it - that's actually cute and odd at the same time!!

Our tyke's first toy was much less unique (Fisher Price glowing sea horse).

Empress, like everyone else has said, you're doing everything you can about Limita's umbilical cord issue. I'm sure with close monitoring everything will be fine. smile.gif

Re: demented lamb, the label says "Gund Baby," and the tag on the front says, "Chime."

I've got a blue giraffe that looks quite high, mind you. I'll post pics later, lol

Oooh...high giraffe sounds good. A sensible companion for the demented lamb.
