We mailed in our I-485/I-765/and I-131 on January 25th, 2009 and just received a rejection notice because of payment.

I included a personal check for $1,010.00 and packaged all three applications together.

on form I-485 Rejection notice it says:

The check amount is incorrect or has not been provided. The correct filing fee is $930.00. Each applicant between the ages of 14 and 79 must also include an additional $80.00 fingerprint fee. Please resubmit the application with the appropriate fees to the address listed at the bottom of this notice.

They stapled the check i wrote onto the form and returned it to me.

I'm really not sure what i did wrong here. Do i need another 80 dollars for myself? (I am a US citizen). My understanding was that i don't need to pay the extra fees for the I-765 and I-131 if i was filing all three together.

Can someone help?

Many Thanks.

The $1010 is indeed that what you have to pay, nothing more and nothing less.

Are you sure there was enough money in your account? Not that something was waiting to be cleared out or anything at the time that they tried to cash the check because that might be the cause and sounds the most logical.

I would just redo that form, sign it and send it again.

I am glad you figured out what was wrong. :-)

In this tedious process, we tend to forget that this is all worth it.

I love my hubby beyond anything in this world.

Why would they say the check amount is incorrect if the birthdate is wrong? That's strange. I'm glad you figured it out!

If they were younger than 14 or older than 79 - they do not need biometrics (fee).

DOB was probably older or younger than this (maybe 2010 instead of the real date)

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.
