USCIS background check

Just heard back from senator. They said that our I-130 is going through background checks. Anybody had background checks with USCIS and how long did it take??

I've heard of AP and AR after the interview, and know kn some cases it takes years, but what about USCIS?

i forgot to mention, that they said that we have to wait for 90 days before inquiring again.

There are specific background checks all petitions must go through. Not sure if there was something extra added to yours, but it is standard for USCIS to do certain checks.

I was told by an immigration officer that all petitioners go through FBI background check.

If nothing comes up, it seems to take only a few days because I have received an approval letter from the US Embassy only a week after my husband petitioned for me.

We've done DCF so it might be different from the USCIS route, but I hope this helps.

so is it the FBI background check??? if yes how long on average it take? and does anybody been stuck in those checks for a long time while been on I-130 stage not after the interview?

what should I expect? how much longer should i wait? just really upset now with this situation. just feel like i will never get the approval. It's already been more than 9 month since I've applied.

I-130 not approved 11 month.., its already 3 month since background check start in august 14th

We had them for 3 months, it was name check for us!! We also went through AP after the interview, but just for 2 weeks THANK GOD!!

I found this useful website on background checks. I didn't know how long a 'normal' FBI background check takes, but now I do. It takes about 2 weeks.

The problem is this year because of elections they approved more citizenships, that screwed up the petitions. Once FBI is done with that (which they should) they will start with us.

It's hard to say. I don't think anyone can give you a specific answer.

My ex-husband's security check took 2 years, but he was already living here, so it didn't bother me at the time. But waiting apart from my husband now, for 2 years, would kill me.

yeah, we are barely sending our I-864/DS-230 in right now.. our lawyer is doing a slow job.. but that's ok.. hopefully 3 months from now, we should be able to get the interview.. My original guess was probably end of February 2009 anyway..

Look at our timeline, we were stuck for over TWO DAMN YEARS with the USCIS.

hopefully you won't be stuck THAT long...
