True.... It's your month mrsaloto. I'm positive that all will be well and soon you'll be together

Very helpful, thank you so much. David is traveling to Nairobi on the 14th, medical scheduled for the 16th, and interview on the 24th. July is our month! I can't wait to have this month fly by and then my hubby will be home in my arms! Good luck on Wilson's interview Wednesday. I'll be praying for you both.

I need some help from all who have to travel to Nairobi for interview and medical. How many days does it take to do medical? Can it be done in one day or do you need one day for payments, vaccinations and then physical.

All vaccinations have been done in Uganda so will just be doing medical and interview.

Thanks

David had to go to the clinic get the payment info, go pay at the bank and get a receipt for payment today. His medical is in the morning, but is at 8:30 so the bank will not be open early enough for him to pay the fee day of the medical. Therefore he had to pay it today for tomorrow so his was a two day process. I will update you how long the medical takes after he's done today.

Thank you so much for your reply mrsaloto. So you do not need an appointment to get the payment forms? Right? You can just walk in get them and go make a payment before the medical?

Right. Make sure they take the vaccination record with them when they go get the payment info as they will look at it to see if they are going to charge you for vaccines or just the medical. David ended up paying $198 total. $138 for the medical and $60 for one vaccine he needed. We thought he got the four needed in Kampala but they told him he also needed this fifth one.

He finished day one of the medical today. Got there at 7:15. Was given a number. Waited til his number was called. Then, did his xray and bloodwork. Told him to come back tomorrow for doctor consult and vaccine. He left there around 11:15 today, so the process took 4 hours. He said the staff was very nice and willing to answer any questions. So, back he goes tomorrow to wrap up the medical. Hope this helps you!

It took my wife two days to complete the medical, and a third to collect the results. The initial day is for consultation and a physical. I beleive they did bloodwork and vaccinations on the second day. One should do the medical atleast a week prior to the interview for good measure.

Just curious. I was under the impression that the applicant would be given a sealed envelope after their medical to take to the interview. According to my wife, they told her that the results would be sent to embassy directly by them. Was I misinformed, or has this change come about more recently?

Check this link for medical info: http://nairobi.usembassy.gov/uploads/Ie/4V/Ie4VaRaZjEHVSaMCEIMJXQ/usadvsh06811.pdf. It says on one line:

 If the doctor does not require further tests after your exam, you will be given your CXR film and vaccination

certificate on the same day while your medical report (DS forms) will be sent to the embassy the following
day. In the event if further tests are required, the doctors will advice you when to collect your CXR film and
vaccination certificate
I always go to the nairobi embassy site and make sure I have done everything. You also need to register your spouse's for DHL pick up as well. I already took care of that....

Thank you! Congrats on your interview date. It is so soon! My hubby's medical is in 2 hours. One step closer to coming HOME!! I will update you all soon.

My wife was approved!!!!!!!!! alhamdulillah.......according to her, the interview was fairly simple. She was only asked a few questions.

when did you get married?

where does your husband work?

how often do you talk to your husband and provide proof

she provided call records and she was given an approval. I really thought it would be harder than that, and she did mention a lot of people were being denied. I did frontload the initial application, but all thanks is to Allah for making this process easy and smooth. I wish all of you the best of luck with your interview.
