Hi, there have been some recent posts about criminal history of the u.s. citizen. Maybe people don't want to admit it in this open forum but can you PM me? I know on the forms it says only certain crimes are a problem, but is that really true? What if someone made a mistake years ago (a crime not listed on the I-129 form), will that be held against the person in this process? Has anyone got through this process with an old felony charge or misdemenor charge? PM me if you don't feel comfortable to post here. Everyone has their ugly childhood past, you know?? How perfect do they expect us to be?

Don't forget about Adam Walsh Child Protection Act.... Some previous "sins" make a USC unpetitionable and no waivers allowed.

YMMV

Egads, nothing like that. Nothing related to sex or violence or anything mentioned on the 1-129 is what I am talking about here. Obviously, those things are a problem. I just wonder about the crimes not listed.

Thanx

I would suggest you contact a qualified attorney to discuss the matter with. Even though VJ members might have an idea about the impact of these criminal charges, nobody but a lawyer will be able to give you legal advice to fall back on in case you run into any problems.

In every difficulty lies an island of opportunity.

I more just wanted to know if anyone got approved or knew of anyone who got approved who had a criminal charge. Thanks

Yes, others have stated they were approved even with criminal background. It depends on the charges. From what I understand by reading the form: No sex crimes. No domestic violence. No violent crimes.

Unless you have an Adam Walsh act related conviction, or are a terrorist petitioning for another terrorist, you USC criminal record is not grounds for denying a petition. Even the stuff mentioned on the I-129F is not about denying petitions. It's about informing the beneficiary.

People who have served time for felonies get petitions approved.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
