Shreyans, I would go by what the Dept. of State is telling you. We had the same experience & we received false info. from Consulate as well. Dept of State systems are updated on a daily basis. DOS was life saver for us because they always gave us accurate and updated info. You see, everytime the embassy updates your case in their system, it is updated to the DOS. So, they are giving you factual info. The rep at the consulate told us that they have no way of checking case status unless you go to the info. counter. Did you call them? Because if you did, they don't have any idea....

However, if you are positive that the embassy has your case, then don't wait for them to do anything further. Simply send in your packet 3. Even if they send it, you will never receive it. I'm sorry for being pessimistic, but we've gone through a challenging time with all this when the consulate lost our Packet 3 that we had submitted. :)

Hang In there & let me know if you have more questions.

The information you provided has saved me so much time & stress! Thanks!!!!

I took your advice, believed what the DoS was telling me over the consulate words, and had my wife send the packet 3 (downloaded from the consulate web site) to the consulate by next day mail. I just called DoS and they confirmed that the packet 3 was received by consualte, and gave me the interview date! :wow: You are very correct that DoS has up-to-date information. BTW, we still have not received packet 3 that the consulate rep. had promised they had sent, so I am convinced they never mailed one -- exactly like DoS said. So everything is good except that the interview date they gave us is June 6th. :crying: Do you have any trick up your sleeves to get it rescheduled to an earlier date??

Did anyone here have had any success in getting an earlier date from Mumbai consulate once the interview date was set?

Thanks again for all information!! :)
