Has anyone heard that of a K-1 visa being denied because of an age difference of 24 years? My fiance is 25 and I am 49.

You cannot be denied because of a large age gap.

But you can be denied for insufficient proof of a bona fide relationship. And a large age gap will cause increased scruitiny.

If the relationship is bonafide and you have enough proof, then, no, age cannot be used as a factor for denial.

However, if your particular situation gives the embassy pause and you dont' have enough proof to satisfy them, it certainly could be a problem.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

Age difference is never and will never be a problem as long as you have enough evidences that the relationship is bona fide. I used to worry about this but we did fine and made it through successfully. And the CO will never scrutinize you for having a big age gap... believe me.

Good luck!

Mae, You cannot guarantee that someone will NEVER have a problem because you didn't.

It always depend on the interviewer at the embassy. They have the final say whether to give you a visa or send your paper works back to USCIS.

What I'm saying is... If they scrutinize you, they probably wont admit its because of the large age gap.

The age difference isn't an issue in the Philippines because of the culture. Walk the streets of any city there and eventually you will see a young Filipina with an older foreigner. Other members have reported more problems when the USC is a woman and older (several years) than the beneficiary and some lead to denials.

Read jasman's reply above and you'll know why I said what I posted... In other countries (i.e. Vietnam) age difference is a red flag... but not in the Philippines because of our culture.

for as long as you have a bonifide relationship then they wont question you about age gap (although i knew a certain case that they were ask why marry someone that is way older, but they're approved nonetheless)... and i do think that each CO has an opinion on age gap, they never really open it up knowing its not really an issue in the process rather its just their personal view so they just shut their mouth about it especially if they cant find any flaws pertaning to docs and evidences...

my husband and i got age gap too but yea they never brought it up during my interview.

What culture? I was born and raised in the Philippines and I didnt know that it is a filipina culture to marry someone twice their age.

And if you read what jasman said, he said... "filipina with a foreigner". You certainly wont find a lot of filipina with much older filipinos. At least, not nearly as much as you see filipina with a much older foreigner.

But this thread its not about filipinas with much older men. It is aboutthe question, "can you get denied a visa for large age gap." And the answer to that question is no.

But no one can still guarantee that the consular officer wont give the visa applicant added scrutiny because of a large age gap.

All Im saying is... If you have a large age gap, the couple MUST make sure they have everything they need to prove the relationship is real.

Even if the couple have only one year age gap or none at all, they MUST still prove that their relationship is REAL.

So my vote is on "Age gap won't be a factor as long as you have a bona fide relationship and you have proofs to show it."

as for example of proof, check david and mae's photos... you can almost see hearts coming out of their eyes :thumbs:
