Hi everyone. I just want to ask about AOS. we jst got married last week. i dont know if its possible that i can also expedite my AOS or what will i do during my interview day since my husband is deployed during those times... thank u n God bless everyone.

Hi, congrats on getting married!

I think the possibility to expedite AOS really depends on the Field Office that handles your case.

The Atlanta Field Office did not let me expedite.

However, it all went really fast (had my green card less than 6 months after filing - not bad indeed!).

My husband was in pre-deployment training at time of the interview. We tried to change the date but it did not work.

I went by myself and they were very nice and helpful, no problem at all.

Just to be sure, and to give you some peace of mind, you can ask around at your base beforehand. Sometimes ACS has direct contacts with CIS and sometimes they even come to the base.

I had a talk with a CIS representative before my interview. He assured me it would be no problem to attend it by myself, so I knew in advance it would be find.

You will need a copy of your husband's deployment orders to take with you.

take care

hi everyone; my fiance is in the US army, and is stationed in Okinawa Japan, at the moment we are waiting for our K-1 visa. So i'll become a military spouse soon; I have a question though and would most definitely appreciate if someone can share their thoughts on our case;

After we get married in US, we will file asap for command sponsorship and it can be done(accdng to his admin) within 2 weeks max. When we get the orders cut, i can fly back with him to Okinawa after his leave.

Our immigration specialist has already told us that i am able to leave US without it being considered abandoning since it's on orders and that I won't need travel parole to do that.

And i've read that in the application of the AOS, there will be an interview conducted so i don't know how that will work out for us just yet. Idon't know either how i can do the interview having both of us overseas. Will there be some special circumstances for us to aplly for AOS and the interview process even though i'd already be in Okinawa as a SOFA status with him?

we will get married asap when we both are in the states so we can file for the EFMP and get the command sponsorship worked on asap. The length of time we will be there though will depend on however long his leave days will be.

i've already posted on the AOS forums but not many seem to shed some light on this situation

If you have any knowledge about this or have experienced the same situation please do enlighten me. Thanks!

Hello,

I'll be in the same situation, only we'll get stationed in Germany and I have no clue on how to go about it. Please, if you find out anything, let me know.

Best of luck!

Does anyone know if one can get military ID without a SSN? >_<

Yes it can be done. The ID section just wanted my marriage certificate. They gave him a "number" that started with F then told us as soon as he gets the SSN just come back in. It was simple.

There have been several spouses that went to interview while USC was in training or deployed. The orders sufficed and as far as I know, no issues - just approvals.

Don't worry about it - it will be ok, just bring the orders with you.

See my post about three posts before yours.

I did, it was no problem.

Take a copy of the orders and best also a letter from his CO.

Should be fine.

As long as he has orders to deploy then it should be fine. Good luck to you moon =)

My husband had already been deployed 5 months when he expedited, he told them that he really wants me to be there when he gets home and that it'd be bs if he had to keep waiting past... He's on a 15 month deployment and he'll be home April 2010. They approved it. QQ

Sorry to hear that, Moonskin. That is the first time I have heard of a CO being so uncooperative.

Normally, without actual deployment orders (which then would be all you would need), a letter by him would definitely help. But you can try to get your expedite without the CO's help. Your husband could also go talk to ACS (on some bases they can be really helpful) or just contact a Senator's office and ask for their help.

There is no harm in trying.

Take care

we got our expedite approved without any letter from the co or my husband (just like u he was still on training at that time). he just called the military helpline and after 10 days we got our noa2. i really hope n pray that u get expedited. everyone who serves deserve it.. goodluck n may God bless ur journey

Thanks all for reply. We will definitivelly try to do that. Hope we find another way. Even if deployment orders are not gonna come before a few months, all we were seeking for was a back up, I am not sure his CO really understood that. We will see I guess. From what my hubby has seen on the lists so far he should be deployed after end of January, but if the timeline is correct, we should get NOA2 around November, so then waiting for the interview and all is gonna put us to January and I fear we will have our backs to the wall and won't really be able to do anything. I don't know if I am clear enough in my explanations, sorry.
