I-134 Q11. I intend/do not intend to make specific contributions to the support of the person(s) named in item 3

I'm very curious how folks responded to this question on the I-134 (Affidavit of Support). I'm assuming its not an issue of saying "I Intend" versus "I Do Not Attend", so I will be surprised if there are many poll responses that select the negative.

For me, its "of course I intend to support my fiance, later wife, and children". Seems like a no brainer to me. But its the text part I'm more curious about. So, I'm interested to hear how others filled that space. The instructions say:

If you check "intend," indicate the exact nature and duration of the contributions. For example, if you intend to furnish room and board, state for how long and, if money, state the amount in U.S. doallrs and state whether it is to be given in a lump sum, weekly or monthly, and for how long.

well i say if diference so I check do not attent but answed in box that I will pay all bills and give her money for as long as we shall live.I really don't understand the ouestion.It is a trick question.I have thought about it and have ask people what the meaning

That isn't for Fiance visas, its for visitors that are temporary. Check do not intend.

Can you tell me where the motivation comes from for the example? I see nothing in the K1 or I-134 instructions that indicate the question isn't valid for K1 applicants. Thanks for the response.

As DKM noted above, the I-134 is also used for visitors visas.

As someone who is coming here as a fiance(e) it is assumed that they are on the path to permanent residency. Also, remember that when filing AOS we fill out the I-864 which is legally binding.

So, for K visas, this question of intend/do not intend is not applicable.

BTW: the example is from VJ.

I put N/A (K-1 visa process for permanent residence) .. Most other people on this site put the same, and it goes over fine. This form is sort of an "all-purpose" document, it's used for several kinds of visas. But I've heard of others putting "I intend to marry (so and so) within 90 days of their entry into the US" and that went over fine too.
