Event Date
Port of Entry : Washington DC
POE Date : 2011-10-12
Got EAD Stamp : No
Biometrics Taken : Yes
Harassment Level : 0
Comments : POE went very well. The first IO asked a few conversational questions then directed us to go claim our baggage and go to the second IO. When we got to the second IO, we were separated from each other. I was told to go to waiting area B. I saw the IO and was asked for my passport and packet. I was told to have a seat. From my seating position I could see that they were processing my paperwork. After 5 minutes of waiting I was called and told to sign the landling card. After signing card, the IO finalized the paperwork and told me to exit that way. The immigration process took a total of 15 minutes from point A to B.

Embassy Review : At 7:30 I arrived at the embassy, showed my interview letter to the security staff and he checked my name on the list. He asked me to put my belt and watch in my carry case and then directed me to the second queue. There, I showed the security guard my passport and interview letter, he gave me the ok and sent me off to x-ray. During the x-ray there was a little panic when an alarm bleeped. The guards swabbed our stuff, checked it with their instruments and gave us the all clear. I went into the main building, at reception handed over the appointment letter and the receptionist put some labels on it and told me to go through the doors and wait for my number to be called.

At7:55, I arrived in the waiting area, made myself comfortable and took out a book to read.

At 8:00 they began calling numbers for petitioners to attend a numbered desk.

At 8:45 my number was called so I went to the desk and was greeted by a cheerful fellow. He took the appointment letter and went off to search for my file and a checklist. On return he ask How did I felt knowing I would be going to live in the USA? I said, “Incredible” He then handed me the white envelope telling me not to lose it. We then worked through the list of documents he required, one by one, whilst he casually asked me a series of questions, (How long we had been together?, How many times my fiancée had visited me? Have I been to America before? How had we met? When were we getting married? Who would be attending? Have I got a job already?), all in a conversational tone. Why I had signed that I had been arrested? He said, “Don’t worry you’ve been approved. “He then gave me a courier slip and asked me to fill it out in the waiting area and wait for them to call my number again, I duly did so.

At 9:15 my number was called again I went to the window and met another cheerful person, a lady this time, who told me to hold up my right hand and solemnly swear I had told the truth, I duly did so. She asked me to print my Fiancée’s name and sign the form. She then asked me how we met and why I had signed that I had been arrested on the form. I told her everything she said that was fine, told me I was approved and wished me the best of luck.

At 9:25 I went to the courier window and paid for the visa’s delivery.

Thank you God!!!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
