Marriage : 2005-05-05
Comments : Visa was rejected at the interview, as the police certificate was incorrectly dated 5 Jan 2004 instead of 5 Jan 2005! I submitted a corrected version with my passport to the consulate on 4 March, and the visa arrived by courier on 29 March. Was sweating it by this stage, as I had booked tickets, organised farewell itinerary, etc.

Comments : Chose not to send in affidavits, and instead sent in annotated photos of our life together since the marriage. Application was received at NSC Nov 2. Cheque was cashed Nov 16 in LA. Received NOA1 on Nov 19, from CSC. Biometrics letter arrived Dec 1, scheduled for Dec 12 in Portland, OR. The USCIS receipt number now works with USCIS Online. Dec 17 green card production ordered. Absolutely impressed with how fast this has been!

Citizenship
Event Date
Service Center : Phoenix AZ Lockbox
CIS Office : Portland OR
Date Filed : 2009-03-13
NOA Date : 2009-03-20
Bio. Appt. : 2009-04-18
Interview Date : 2009-06-17
Approved : Yes
Oath Ceremony : 2009-06-17
Comments : This has been a smooth process, taking only 3 months. Portland, OR is a quick efficient district office.

At the interview, the IO asked only for my green card, ID (driver's license) and passport. She checked the details with those on my form, then gave me the English and civics tests.

She then went through the rest of the form in order, asking some of the questions, using her own words (e.g. Have you ever hurt anyone?) and checked the questions off with her red pen. Then some of the yes questions. She went back to check my trips details on her computer and made changes on the dates of a couple of them.

She said I was approved and could take oath the same day. I signed my photos and the form (resigned the first part with my normal signature instead of all my names). I received my N-652 and my oath letter.

That afternoon I attended the oath ceremony. It took less than an hour all up. My husband took photos during and after the ceremony.

The next day I went to Social Security to show them the Naturalization certificate (they sent me a new card), and to the PO to apply for my US passport.

It's great to be finished with USCIS at last!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
