Consulate Review: France
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : March 29, 2011
Embassy Review : Went there early, too early. They don't let you get in until 25 minutes prior to your interview, i.e. around 12:35pm in Paris.
Got a ticket for IV, and waited around 45 minutes for my number to be called (i.e. 15 minutes after my appointment time).
First did paperwork processing (gave them updated evidence of financial support, updated pictures, updated police certificate and birth certificate). The lady was very kind and helpful. My Chronopost envelope was too small (they need a 2Kg for IR1-CR1 as they send the entire packet), but luckily enough, another applicant had a envelope that was too big right after me, so she called me and offered to switch envelopes to expedite the process (instead of having to come back to drop off another one).
Then waited another 15 minutes to speak to the consular officer. Asked me basic questions about where I met my wife, what I had done over the past year and what I was planning on doing in the US. Then made me sign part II of I-230 and told me I had to wait 7 to 10 days (not business days) to receive my passport with the visa and the supporting evidence in a sealed envelope.
Quick, courteous and very helpful.
Rating : Good

POE Review: Newark
Event Description
Entry Date : 2011-03-28
Embassy Review : Went to the USCIS booth, gave my passport with my visa on it, along with the two sealed envelopes containing the evidence. Asked me how my wife and I met, where we met, what my profession was, and what I was planning on doing in the US. Then sent me to the separate room to finalize the paperwork. They called me after 10 minutes, asked me to sign a form and took my index fingerprint.
Harassment Level : Low

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
