Comments : NO INTERVIEW. I was woried because I was moving to a new place and thought I had to inform the USCIS, on the last day when I was to deliver the apt keys I checked the mail box and there it was. A letter starting with the words: Welcome to the United States of America" promising to deliver my GC within 2 weeks, and another envelope with the GC itself. This was a blessing and a strong sign from above.

Consulate Review: Portugal
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : June 4, 2013
Embassy Review : Everyone was very professional, I arrived earlier, passed the inspection (metal detectors) proceeded to the interviews room, called to the window where all documents were shown. I was missing an affid avid hopping it wasn't necessary (wrong move). I was told I could submit it later through fax but they would only decide once the original was in their hands. I was told I could proceed to pay and that I would be interviewed anyway. I proceed to pay ans sat for about an hour until I was called to the consul window. She was very nice, asked me if I could sustain the conversation in english and started asking me questions about how we met and if I had been there. I told her that I had been with my future wife for 4 times and once with my children to spend Christmas and New Year's Eve and had photos of everything. She asked for the photos, asked some questions about the photos and told me that I would only have to submit the additional info. I paid to leave the passport so that the visa could be posted on it and left with a stone in my heart because we had no sponsor yet and her income wasn't enough.
I thought about every possibility and was denied by a branch of my family living in the US (Wow!) later we managed to find a friend and colleague who accepted being a sponsor and sent the needed papers. By negligence my future wife sent those by regular mail which took more than 15 days to arrive. After that I got a call from the embassy telling me those papers were not enough but if our friend added the information from her husband it would be ok. Again I called asking for that and this time the papers arrived faster. After almost one month from the interview I got the passport with the visa on it. The embassy staff was incredibly helpful and patient to cope with my everyday calls.
Rating : Very Good

POE Review: Philadelphia
Event Description
Entry Date : 2011-08-16
Embassy Review : I had been to the US 4 times previously. This time I had "the package" so when called by the officer I gave it to him. He looked at it and asked what it was. I told him - My K1 paperwork. - He then asked me if I was getting married and when and congratulated me. He then gave me the package back and told me to go to complementary inspections at the end of the hall and with a large smile on his face said - Welcome to the United States sir. - I was thrilled... lol. At complementary inspections there were 2 officers that told me to sit. I did it and stayed for around 15 min. while they entered info on the computers. I was absolutely relaxed because my connection flight was 4 hours away. At last one called me and asked if I had luggage to pickup. I said yes and he told me to do so and return afterwards which I did after around 5 minutes. When I got there he gave me the X-Ray and told me I was good to go that everything else would be forwarded to the local USCIS office, then he asked me how I knew my fiancé and I asked him to guess. He said: On the Internet. I answered "right" we both started laughing and then I parted. No harassment whatsoever. People were nice and attentive. Best entry EVER in the US .
Two things though to be careful with: I didn't write all my name on the I94 because my name is just too big and that has been causing me some trouble when applying for the SSN I had to return to DHS (deferred inspections) and have the I94 corrected.
The second thing is more like a tip. Although I was not wearing a tie at POE I was wearing a suit like kind of clothing. The previous time I had been in the US with my children I was wearing a suit and a tie and found that the harassment level was insignificant, so maybe this is only my impression or maybe officers like tidy people better than sporting people lol.
Harassment Level : Low

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
