Embassy Review : |
From all other accounts, this interview should've been cake for us. We'd been together for 4 years (all throughout college), the applicant is from a country that is not considered one that many people are desperately trying to leave, we're the same age, similar backgrounds, and we're best friends- talking and laughing and finishing each other's sentences throughout the interview.
The interviewer took every single one of our pictures (about 40) and labeled them: with friends, Jan 2008; with family (wrote their names out), Christmas 2007; pet dog (this was a goofy picture of us posing with our puppy and she still didn't crack a smile). Took bank statements, lease agreements, car titles, premarital counseling certificates, marriage license, etc. from us to prove validity of the marriage. Even after all this, she said "I'll be reviewing your case and you should be receiving a letter within a few weeks letting you know my decision."
After hearing so many stories of interviewers who were lighthearted, told people to relax, and even stamped their approval right then (which happened with applicant's brother a year later in Arkansas), it was really frustrating to leave knowing that we should be approved but not having that confirmation that we were expecting. We were never worried about whether or not it would be approved... again, it was just frustrating that for the first time we felt like someone was genuinely questioning the validity of our relationship- something that was not conveyed by the experiences of other people we'd talked to and heard from in their interviews. |

Timeline Comments: None yet, be the first!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
