Comments : This was a great experience for my husband and I. We left our house early (thankfully because Dallas traffic was a nightmare and we ended up only arriving 15 minutes early lol). We went through security and headed up the stairs where we waited for roughly an hour (next time i'll definitely remember to eat prior to because my tummy was talking). Finally, we were called in and this lovely woman took us back to her office. She was funny and made my husband and I feel completely at ease :) I laid down my massive 3 inch binder as well as the stack of 100+ pictures of our relationship. we talked some, she asked a few questions, looked through our photos and even joked with my husband some... (He has a thick Texan accent and there were some laughs with all of us regarding this). After the questions she let us know that we were approved and we could be on our way :)

Event Description
Review Date : April 20, 2012
Embassy Review : Overall I had a great experience. I followed the instructions and didnt show up till 20 minutes prior to my appointment. i dont think that even mattered as \i ended up in the lineup till after my 10 am appointment. One girl even showed up at 1030 for her 930 am appointment and was sent to the back of the line. So I'm not really sure how that system works. Ladies, wear comfy shoes. I made the mistake of wearing heels and I would definitely do that differently. Also definitely make sure you have a purse that isnt on the big size... thankfully mine managed to get into the box they have to measure it. . Don't make the same mistake I did when I got there and forgot to remove my makeup- even pressed makeup isn't allowed there. So you either have to have someone come and hold it for you, find a store to hold it or throw it out... I didn't feel like wasting time finding a place so I just threw it out. \sigh\ lol

Once through the security, they take you to an elevator and tell you where to go. k-visas go to window B- i headed over there where a nice young chinese man proceeded to cut me off and cut infront of me. Lovely. So i sat quietly and when he was done I went to the window where you have to flip the switch to get some help. I couldn't figure out if I had flipped the switch so I did it a few times lol. I'm sure they get that alot. Then a lovely woman came to the window nd collected the documents, medical and my passport- she was super friendly and told me to breathe she would make this as painless as possible LOL. Once she had the documents she had me take a seat while she entered stuff into the computer. A few minutes later she called me up to the window and gave me a number to get fingerprints done and my interview. I sat down again and about 5 minutes later they called me to do my fingerprints and you sit down again after that. About 10 minutes later a nice gentleman called me up to his window for the interview. So I got to the window, opened up my massive binder holding about 120 pictures, plane tickets, hotel receipts, stuff about my engagement ring etc... The conversation went like this:

"So you're headed to Texas are you?"
-hopefully! (nervous laugh)
"So how did you two meet?"
-Online on_________ it's not a dating website, it's a website about energy industry workers etc.
"So how did your relationship grow? The short story about how you got to being engaged"
- Well......bla bla bla lol
"Fair enough, what does he do for work?"
-Oilfield...he's a rig manager.
"What hours does he work?"
-well it varies... in the summer he works long hours and in the winter it slows a little bit.
"I hope he gets paid well for that kind of work"
-(nervous laugh) yeah, he certainly does :P
"Any children from his previous marriage?"
-He has one, a daughter- she's 4 years old and super cute. LOL
"Do you plan on working while there?"
-Absolutely! hopefully in the same industry I'm in now.
"Any specific wedding plans?"
-Naw just the two of us.
"Hey, I don't blame you. I'd do it that way if my wife and I did it again"

He signs a few things, shuts the folder and I must have had a confused look on my face. he says:
"oh and by the way, you're approved, everything looks great. Congratulations! \have a seat and they'll call you up to the window for final instructions"
-oh my gosh! thanks so much!

A few minutes later, the same lady as before calls me up, explains the pick up process for my visa and smiles and congratulates me!

Now I'm Texas bound!!!!!!!!finally!

Overall a great experience apart from the long wait in the lineup.
Rating : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
