Embassy Review : August 12th my fiance and I went to Santo Domingo for our visa interview. Got there at 5:30 a.m. for a 6 a.m. appt. Called us to the window to take our documents and give us a number. Went to the cashier window to pay the fees. Sat and waited hours. Fiance had his finger printing done. Sat and waited until 2 p.m. and called in for separate interviews. Went to main area and waited until 3 p.m. and called to the window for a few more questions and received the verdict that it was being denied! Main question was "why don't we get married in DR"? My response was, "wanted to be married in the states with family and friends. Mother is 93 yrs. old and can not travel." He was not satisfied evidently with the response. He stated that he believed we had a "plan"! I am older (female, US citizen) but there seems to be no problem with an older man and young Dominican girl.

Now, what should we do? Get married in DR and go for the CR1? OR is there another avenue we should take. I assume the process has to be started over!!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
