Comments : My journey through the NVC took 6 weeks longer then necessary. Our lawyer forgot to send in our DS 230 for 3 weeks and then he filled out our forms wrong so we had to respond to an RFE which added 3 weeks. Arghh. If you do it right it can be done in about a month.
We sent in an I-129f and were approved but since it was approved as the same time as our 1-130 it was canceled due to the rule change as of Feb 1, 2010.

Comments : Went to PAC Highway crossing in BC, based on my Lawyers advice. Sumas and Lynden crossings have a rep for being "rogue" borders that don't know what they are doing. This was true to my experience when I was harrassed and mistreated by an immigration officer at Sumas when authorizing a simple student visa a few years back.

The lady processing my case was very professional. It took her about 45 minutes just with my case, but I could tell she was double checking everything and making sure to do it right. So I was happy with that. She also didn't charge me anything to import my car since it was originally from the states. I shook her hand and had a big smile when it was all done and thanked her for her time. I got her to crack a smile, even though she was putting on a very serious look throughout the process :)

The only thing I was annoyed with was that they told us there were no public bathrooms. This poor five year old next to me kept saying she had to go to the bathroom and they wouldn't let anybody go. However, when I was done my fingerprinting the lady said that there was actually a bathroom around the corner that I could use to wash the ink off my hand. I thought it was very inhumane that they had a bathroom available but wouldn't let anybody use it.

Embassy Review : Great experience in Montreal. Arrived early at 6:50. Third person in line. I was out of there by 9:10. My immigration officer was incredibly nice and apologetic for how long we have waited. Make sure to bring photocopies of your marriage license and birth certificates as they want to have those on file when they give you back originals. I also negotiated with my interviewer to pick my visa up the next day. Told him I had to be out of the apartment by the weekend. It's worth a shot if you have to move quickly. But don't go in expecting to get the visa in Montreal. The officer said he rarely gives out the clearance ticket to come back and pick it up. Must have caught him on a good day. Good luck to those with interviews coming up. It's much easier then I was expecting.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
