Embassy Review : |
I was scheduled for the interview at 6:25 am. I got to the USEm Manila at around 5:30 am. It was already packed at that time. It was organized though since the security guys were there to assist us on where we're supposed to queue.
Before entering the embassy, I was asked to show my appointment letter, receipt, and passport. I only brought a clearbook with all my documents in it to make sure I don't get into any trouble with security as you are not allowed to bring any electronics, liquids, food, etc.
After going through security check, you'll see several windows. This is where I gave them my DS Forms, BPI deposit slip and appointment letter. The person inside compiled 'em and gave them back to me together with my number. I was then instructed to drop it off WIndow 39 and wait for my number to flash on the screen.
PRE-SCREENER
The pre-screener was a Filipina. She asked for my NBI, CENOMAR, NSO Birth Certificate, and my fiancé's I-134 together with all the supporting financial documents (2009 & 2010 ITR and W-2s). Then she started asking me basic questions about me and my fiancé like my name, my birthdate, his name, his birthdate, how and when did we meet, when was the last time we saw each other, did he come visit me, etc. She was very nice and even joked a little. She also did ask for our photos together but then returned them to me after. I then sat down and waited for my number to come up on the screen again.
FINGER SCANNING
Easy. The Japanese lady just asked what my name and birthdate was then scanned my fingerprints. Took only about 5 mins. to get this done. Sat down again and waited.
FINAL INTERVIEW
It took a million hours for my number to come up for this. I was already dead starving and dizzy at this point, but you gotta do what you gotta do! My interviewer was really chatty but nice. She was smiling the whole time and I actually had fun talking to her. The interview lasted for about 20-30 minutes.
Here are a few questions which I remember her asking:
-What's your petitioner's name?
-How old is he?
-What does he do for a living?
-How was your internship at the Marriott?
-When did you meet each other?
-Isn't Clarksville, IN far from Louisville? (lol)
-When is your birthday?
-Has any of you been married before?
-Do you or does he have kids?
-Have you been to other countries aside from the US?
-When did the official proposal happen?
-Have you worked before and where?
-Have you met his family and how's your relationship with them?
-Are you planning to come back to the Marriott to work?
-Do you have photos together? (I said that I do and gave them to her. She said her favorite was the one where I had my fiancé wear hair extensions so we could look like John & Yoko )
Then a few more convos and she finally said, "I would like you to know that your visa's been approved."
YAY! :D
I was instructed to just wait for my number to be flashed again for the courier. Again, the lady at the courier window said that my visa's been approved and that I just have to fill out their form for the visa delivery and drop it off one of the windows.
It was a great experience! I wasn't that nervous because I've gone through this for a J1 before. Also, I was lucky enough to meet and hang with Crystal, Cherry, and Crisel! They kept me sane through all the WAITING. Thank you! Our efforts have paid off and the long wait will finally be over soon. Can't wait to become my babe's Mrs. C!

Timeline Comments: None yet, be the first!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
