Consulate Review: Juarez, Mexico
Review Topic: General Review
Event Description
Review Date : March 9, 2011
Embassy Review : Well I am writing this review because I really want to guide people who are in this process that turned out to be super stressful to me (sorry if my grammar is not the best), anyways here we go.

THE ARRIVAL AND HOTEL
My dad and I flew from Mexico city on sunday on Interjet (my husband had to work). We took a taxi from the airport to the hotel La quinta Inn and it cost 245 pesos.
I decided to stay at La quinta Inn because most of the reviews suggest it, I liked it, it feels very safe since it is gated, also many restaurant deliver to the hotel, and it has a shuttle that takes you everywhere you need to go, breakfast is included and they help you to print stuff. Everybody here is very nice and helpful.

THE EXAMS
HA! So we took the shuttle to the clinic on Monday at 7 AM, we went to the white building, but be careful, with the coyotes they are EVERYWHERE!. so I went inside, then I waited and waited and finally it was my turn, they took my passport, interview letter and health carnet, then I went to the waiting area.
After a while it was my turn and they took my photos and I had to write my signature on an electronic pad. And was sent to the Xray part where as everybody says women are separated from men, they ask you to take your top off and you put a paper robe kind off, and you go to the xray machine, after that you get dressed and get your blood taken. And then you go to a different area where they check your bp, weight, vision, height, then they ask you to undress completely and put your paper robe again, ask for tattoos, piercings and cronic diseases, but here is where the worst part for me happened, the immunizations, the reason of why this whole medical part was so frustrating for me, was because I had ALL of the vaccines they were asking for however a guy who wasn't even a doctor decided they were not good enough, because my health carnet was from the government he said a lot of bs, because he told me that I needed a MMR booster (my husband is a doctor and said that MMR is one dosis) I had varicella twice, still I got it, and I had varicella when I was 6, I even showed him my scars ... the truth is they only want your money, MY ADVICE and really pay attention, take your health carnet and just get an antibody titer, hopefully that will be enough for them .. ,I ended up paying 320 some dollars for that crap ... Also ... they don't take american express ... At 16 hrs I went to pick up my results ... but I was still upset these so called clinics are just there to take your money away.
Then when I went to pick up my result they gave a sheet saying don't forget to get your appointment at the ASC (applicant's service center) to get your photos taken and fingerprints .. WTF?! my interview was the next day at 10:15 am and they tell me this at 16?! ... So I ran to this ASC which is close to the waiting area from the consulate and there we were like 30 people confused with the situation, we were told that we didn't need to go through that because it was something new, and we will be ok.

I went back to my hotel room and used my computer to select my DHL office on the webpage they tell you mexico.usvisa-info.com/ and when I selected the dhl office I had to schedule an appointment at the ASC .. and I did but totally ignored it.

THE INTERVIEW
So the next day I arrived to the consulate, they told me to go to the waiting area to get my interview letter stamped .. I went and they found out I submitted a DS-260 meaning I needed to go to the appointment to the ASC, so I was sent there, well I used some of my persuasion skills and got inside without waiting on the line and it turned out to be fine I even got escorted to the consulate and everything went fine, pay attention everybody who is scheduled in March, because they will be asking for the appointment at the ASC. I was lucky that my whole process was electronic and that is why I had the DS-260 filled out, it also happened that I had it printed because 2 weeks before my interview I called the ASC and they told me 1. That I didn't need to schedule anythind 2. That I needed to take the DS-230 to my interview not the DS-260 ... crazy huh?!
Anyways once in the consulate everything went super smooth, yes it was a 5 hours wait but, everybody was super nice and my interview was like 2 minutes.

DHL
I selected to get my documents shipped to a DHL close to were I live, the person who interview me told me that I don't have to come back to Juarez to get my passport stamp .. we'll see how it goes.
Regards and good luck everybody :D

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
