US Entry : 2010-11-08
Comments : don't repeat my mistake - get police clearance certificates a month before NOA2. And don't send documents from India to US using govt postal service (use private companies, like DHL).
Interviews are only scheduled the 2nd week of every month, so narrowly missed September deadline and had to wait another month.
Bring wedding album, medical report, passport, VFS receipts, 4 passport photos, notarized AOS form, interview letter, and any documentation showing proof of marriage to interview.
Be prepared for a lot of interrogation, and remember the interviewers will speak American English. Check the wiki on this site.

Comments : Just had to turn over the sealed packet and had a few fingerprints taken. Not clear on what the next steps are for greencard/social security num, but they said that the CIS will contact us.
You have to go to the local Social security office, where they will ask a few questions for statistical purposes, then your social security card gets mailed out. Greencard also gets mailed out a few weeks later.

Consulate Review: Chennai, India
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : October 15, 2010
Embassy Review : The interview at the consulate was a tough, long process. They really grilled her asking details about the marriage ceremony (where it took place, how many people attended, etc), my workplace, my family and siblings, whether she was going to work/study in the US, how we met. Her interview lasted from 8am to 1pm, and several people asked her questions. This was also the first time she had so much interaction with people with American accents (it's the consulate, so it's all Americans). On top of that she saw quite a few people leave crying, presumably because they were rejected. They don't allow cellphones, so there's no way she could contact me or anyone else while inside.
Anyway, she passed the interview, so that was a huge relief. But please don't underestimate the interview - it's not just a simple "Do you have all your documents? Ok, your visa's approved".
