Event Description

Embassy Review : Waking up at 5:15 has never been so easy. I showered, ate some cereal, drank some coffee and headed out to the train station. £15 for a return on the 6:10 to London Liverpool Street, and at 6:40, I was getting on the central line to Bond Street. Coming out of the station, I turned left and walked toward Selfridges. With nature calling loudly, I ducked into a Starbucks and then bought a latte for queueing up. I waited outside Gould's pharmacy for it to open and stored my phone and camera and bought 2 US sized photos. The queue was starting to build up, loads of students doing camp America were going for their work visas. A girl behind had a UK sized photo and was told by her friends to go get a US one incase they decline her on the wrong sized photo.
The queue moved pretty quickly from 7:30 onwards. I was told to line up on the left rather than with the nonimmigrants and was nearly rushed through security. I went around the corner and told to wait in the waiting room with no. I900 as my ticket. At 8 am, I was called to window 14 and handed over my birth certificate and copy, passport, police certificate, i134 and 4 paystubs to support it, 2 us sized photos and then was asked to sign the documents and got my fingerprints scanned by an English employee. He told me to go back and sit down and he gave me a CD with my xray images.

At 8:30, the time on my interview letter, I was called to window 15. A nice American man named Gary asked my name, unsure of how my surname was pronounced, but he was fine with it, he then asked me to scan my fingerprints to ensure it was me and told me my paperwork was in order. He then asked me to sign the document and asked me to raise my right hand to declare that what I was about to say was truthful. He then asked me how Dawn and I met, I toldhim how we met and when I proposed to her, then he asked me her profession and what I plan to do. He asked when I plan to fly out and when we plan to marry. Then he told me the words I was so eager to hear: 'congratulations, your application has been approved, you'll receive your passport and visa in 7-10 days.'.
I thanked him and was over the moon, went to the courier desk and paid my £14 then rushed out to the pharmacy and called dawn at 3:50 her time!

All in all, the experience was great. I took way more documentation than was necessary but everyone there was polite and friendly. Maybe that could be due to the colour of my skin or religion, but I would like to think it is because I was polite and friendly with them.
Rating : Very Good

POE Review: JFK
Event Description
Entry Date : 2011-05-04
Embassy Review : The flight was delayed so I had a bit of a headache, what felt like the stat of a fever and was super tired so how the waiting felt may be skewed longer than it really was, but this is what happened:

Terminal 4's immigration hall was really, really quiet. I walked through and saw an officer immediately. he saw my brown envelope, tore it open and went through the documents, he asked me how I met my fiancée and then asked what work I'd like to get into, he said I've come to the right place for IT and he was a little sad that he didn't know enough about 'these things' pointing to his computer.

He then asked me to do the fingerprint scans and the photo, then put my documents into a blue folder and asked me to turn left, walk along the way and turn left again into an office. The woman in the office checked my documents again and asked me to walk to zone 2. Which I did, and then found nobody on the desk for zone 2. I sat for what felt like 10 minutes, and then asked one of the others in my area what they did with their documents, the person said he took it up to zone 3's desk, I took it up and the officer was a little confused, and then another officer overheard who was sitting at a desk further away said he'll do it.

He came over and took the documents and then started looking through it. It felt like 45 minutes had passed but it was probably only 5 minutes when he called me over. He passed me my passport with it's i94 and the customs form and he told me I'm free to go. You could tell he had a long day, he was interested in getting it over and done with. I wasn't sure what to write whether I'm a visitor or living here because well, I'm not going back to the UK and have my possessions, and he just asked 'do you have $10,000 on you and are you caryring anything you will be selling?' to which I said I don't and he told me just to get my bags and not to worry about entering anything.

I then went through the customs official. I had a suitcase and a large sports kit bag and the officer asked me where I was travelling from, I said the UK and he said, 'great, you're ok to leave'.

All in all, the first officer was great, I wasn't made to feel awful or asked inappropriate questions and no silly remarks were made about me flying in with Kuwait Airways - who have really nice food on board but non-existent entertainment for 'western' tastes...
Harassment Level : Low

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
