Embassy Review : |
THIS IS ACTUALLY GUAYAQUIL EMBASSY
In preparation for K-1 visa and after reading reviews on this site of the experiences in the Guayaquil Emabassy I personally went to embassy to speak with the officers, interviewers and workers in general. Asking for advise and guideance in expectation of the process.
I arrived at Emabassy WITHOUT appointment. It was appx 2pm on a wednesday. After guards looked at my USA passport they took it inside and told someone I was requesting to speak to consulate. He returned rapidly and explained I could go to website and schedule appointment or return the next day between 8am and 11am and I would be allowed access.
I returned the next morning at appx. 10am. Upon my arrival the same guard as before recognized me and escorted me directly to a security check, after which he instructed another guard to take me inside. I was escorted directly upstairs and to a window to speak with someone.
I was greeted by a blonde, english speaking woman. This woman was polite, friendly and helpful. She was patient and answered all my questions fully. she then directed me downstairs for further inquiries. I was told by her to go directly to window #-- which i did.
I was again greeted by a Ecuadorian (i think) woman who spoke good english. She too was polite and helpful. I TOLD THIS WOMAN point blank, I was anxious about this process, and the emabassy at Guayaquil, because of reviews I have read on internet sites.
I ask if it was neccasary for me to be present at the interview. SHE TOLD ME NO.
I then said, "EVERY review I have read says that in fact if I am not present the visa would be denied". She replied. "those that are required to bring the partner are because the officer does not feel the proof of relationship was met, and that those who post on the internet are those that in general are not happy with the visa process. You dont read of the hundreds that have no problems". In general this lady was very informative, friendly and courteous. I ask if a B-2 visa can be applied for and she replied, YES. When I inqired about particulars she directed me to another window because it is different dept. I went to this window, proceeded by a guard to get the attention of a worker behind the glass.
Another very nice woman answered questions about the B-2 visa saying the K-1 and B-2 are completely different and seperate visa's having no bearing on the other, and can be applied for prior to the K-1 interview process.
I was VERY anxious about going to this embassy because of the stories here. AS FOR MY EXPERIENCE, I was treated VERY well. As an American citizen I was escorted directly to the windows with no waiting. Everyone at the Embassy was very nice to me, including the 5 guards I dealt with, giving me every consideration. It should go without saying but, I too was as courteous and polite as possible. Going out of my way to thank everyone I dealt with for their help.
