Very easy going and comfortable POE. After arriving, waited in the citizens line where the brown envelop was taken by him the visas checked i was fingerscanned and photographed by the IO. then the brown envelop was handed over to another officer who asked me to follow him to a secondary immigration office. There were a few other applicants there. in 15 minutes, my name was called out by a lady cbp officer. she took my fingerprint and signature on a form and handed me back my passport. she explained to me the importance of the i551 i.e. the visa and the admittance endorsement stamped which would serve as a temporary greencard and that i could travel anywhere if required. the io/cbp officers were very supportive and went to great lengths to explain and make me feel welcome. there was no harrassment of any sort at any level. In fact I found that the houston officers were very friendly and empathic to the new immigrants in gerenal. |
