Consulate Review: Nigeria
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : November 6, 2010
Embassy Review : My fiance arrived at the embassy at 6am he said there was already a lot of people there. They started cueing them close to 7am. Once inside he paid the visa fee 350USD and they issued him a receipt. He then went to have a seat. Then a nigerian man called him to the window and asked for affidavit of support, the receipt from the visa fee and form DS156. He then went to take a sit again. about two hours later he was called to the window to start the interview he said that his interviewer was a white male. The questions goes as follows:
before starting the questions he had to raise his right hand and promise to tell the truth the whole truth.......

1. Who is petitioning for you?
2. What will be your address in the USA
3. What does your fiance do for work
4. What is the name of the company she works for
5. What is her sister name
6. What does her mom do for work?
7. What is your fiance name?
The CO then reminded him that he has promised to tell the truth the whole truth... ( I say this to say because it was obvious the CO was trying to make my fiance think he had given a wrong answer or something)
8. Have you applied for a Visa before
9. Where did you meet your fiance

He then showed him a piece of paper and asked him does he know where that place is on the paper my fiance said yes. He then said you can go there next week to pick up your visa. My fiance said ok is that all? THe CO said yes you can go and WELCOME TO AMERICA!!!!!

My fiance also wanted me to share with everyone that you should be confident and make sure you know him/her whoever is sending for you very well. Be sure prepared to answer any and all questions. He said even if you dont know the answer to something always give an answer (random questions)He also said be organized.

Another thing I want to share with you all is that I frontloaded my materials from start and my fiance mentioned they had the duplicate copy of the book he had. All of our information was put inside a 6inch binder and send to the embassy and my fiance had a 6inch binder with him. They did not ask for anything from him but the Tax form, although he came prepared with the binder that had everything in it and he also had a photo album in which they did not ask to see. So just be prepared and pray and GOD Bless you on your journey!!!!
Rating : Poor

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
