Here is our interview experience in Ankara, Turkey.
Our interview time was 8:15AM. We arrived there at 8:00AM and there
was already very long two lines, one for visitor visa and one for immigrant visa. I found out that the immigrant visa line was that long because Iranian
applicants also get interviewed in Ankara, Turkey.
We had to wait until 9:20AM to get in because security office told us that
there is already a long line inside and even he let us get in we would wait over there. Security officer then told me that USC spouse is not allowed to get in due to new regulation. So I wished good luck to my wife and she got in around 9:20AM and I was waiting for her outside.
This is what she told me about her interview;
After security check there was a counter where she had to wait half hour because there was another long line for immigrant via. Here they asked for the appointment letter, medical test results and 2 pictures first. Then they asked for wedding pictures, email records (we didn't email a lot to each other but we called each other everyday so we had a print out of our call records instead), 2009 tax return and any additional proof such as flight tickets, money
transfer etc. My wife gave 2009 tax return with the 3 months bank account statements because I used my cash assets to sponsor. Then they gave a number and asked her to wait for interview.
It was very crowded and after almost one and half hour her number was called for fingerprint and she completed the fingerprint and kept waiting. In fourty minutes her number was called again for the interview. She went to the window and the lady said "hello, how are you?" and then asked to swear that everything is correct in DS230 and everything she will say in the
interview is also correct. After this officer started to ask the following questions;
1) How did you meet?
2) How long did you talk before you met in person? (Because we met online)
3) Where did you meet first? (In which country and city?)
4) What does your husband do? Where does he work?
My wife said he has his own business and she asked what kind of business etc.
5) What do you do? Do you work?
My wife said I recently graduated from university and never worked.
6) What is your degree?
7) When did you get married?
8) Where did you get married?
9) Did you go to honeymoon?
10) Who came to the wedding from your family?
When the officer was done with the questions she told my wife that everything is okay and good and asked her to wait in the window. In a few minutes officer came back with a paper for the UPS Counter and asked her to make the payment to the UPS Counter and gave back some documents (such as original marriage certificate and birth certificate, wedding pictures etc.). My wife
was expecting to get a document with decision also and asked to officer whether she will get a document and the officer told her "everything is okay, we don't give such document but you are approved and you will get your passport with visa back in 5 business days."
The lady was very nice and the interview was very smooth with no problems at all except the long wait outside.
Today we got the passport back with Visa and a yellow sealed envelope. So it took 2 days to receive. |

Timeline Comments: None yet, be the first!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
