My husband and I (the USC) had our interview today at the USCIS office in Santa Ana. The building has a sign with a large "34" and "US Citizen and Immigration Services" in front of it. Parking is $1.25 per hour in the nearby lot (cash only). Security asked us if we had any cellphones, cameras, recording devices, knives, or steak knives.
We arrived almost an hour early, and were seen right on time. We were sworn in. We were asked the following:
How did we meet.
When did we start dating.
Who proposed.
Had he met my family.
Had I met his family.
What have we done since we've been together, like an overnight trip.
We were asked to state the other's full name, date of birth, and place of birth.
My husband was asked to confirm that some of the "no" responses on the I-485.
I was asked if that was my signature on one of the forms.
He asked who prepared the documents (I had). How long did it take me? (from start to finish was about a month and a half) Did I come in to the office, or just use the online forms? (Online only- with VisaJourney's help!)
He also asked for more bonafides. I showed him a few more that I didn't have when we had submitted the package (health insurance, credit cards, AAA membership, bank account), plus a few updated ones (new car insurance card). My husband was a (very!) out of status F1 and was working, so it was easy to get a bank account together, etc.
We were given a congratulation letter on the spot, and he clearly explained that we should file to remove conditions in a year and nine months. We should also update our address when we move. |
