Interview details at Fairfax VA ASC:
The IO was very nice and was an immigrant himself. He asked my spouse to confirm all of the typical biographic data I-130 questions, me to do the same for the I-485, asked me a bunch of the yes/no questions, then asked how we met, where we lived. Then asked what additional info we had for him. I handed him a fairly large stack of photos, which he went through, asking where they were/who was in them etc. That took around 5-10 minutes. Then I gave him a bunch of supporting documents - bank statements from joint accounts, leases, certified copy of married license, car insurance, apartment insurance, utility bills, 401k beneficiaries.
He seemed very satisfied and said "I'm definitely going to approve you". Walked us through 2yr conditional green card and applying for US citizenship in 2yrs 9 months from when I get the conditional greencard. He then gave us a signed piece of paper saying nothing else was needed on our case. He again reiterated he'd approve us quickly. That was it. Didn't ask us about our actual ceremony or any other details about our relationship etc. I feel like this was a 10/10 on the easiness scale. He was really friendly, and we talked a bit about overlaps in places we've lived worked/studied.

EAD should have arrived October 8 as it was out for delivery but USPS seemed to misplace it, and it then showed up 5 days later! |

Interview was originally scheduled for June 18, 2024. Received ceremony cancellation notice July 12, 2024 due to room booking conflict at the DC courthouse. Received rescheduled oath date on June 27, 2024 for a July 30, 2024 oath.
Oath completed July 30, 2024.
Interview report:
Fairfax, VA Office - In a surprising turn of events it was a virtual interview. The officer told me it would be a combo interview, but they never called my spouse in. I had uploaded lots of evidence documents with my N400 (combining finances, taxes, leases etc.) and that seemed to have sped it up.
Interview lasted 10 minutes - civics questions first (how many senators, how long do they serve, what rights are protected in the first amendment, who is the speaker of the house, two US holidays, promise you make when becoming a citizen), confirmed address, updated a couple of errors I made on the N400 form, and asked if we had filed taxes. Done and conditionally approved pending I-751 approval - said it would take 2-3 days for the I-751 to get transferred, 2-3 weeks for approval, oath scheduling could be as fast as a couple of weeks. I let them know i was travelling all of May and they said they would shoot for June.
Immediately received biometrics reuse after filing.
Interview scheduled 59 days after filing, 30 days before three year GC anniversary.
I-751 changed to approved May 3, N400 changed to approved/oath ceremony to be scheduled on midnight May 4. |

Officer was very friendly, and efficient, and one of the most pleasant interview experiences I've had with a USCIS officer. |

Timeline Comments: None yet, be the first!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
