Embassy Review : My visa was approved today, 7/19/2010. Thanks to everyone for all the support!!! I am soooo excited. My hubby came to Jamaica to join me. We went inside the embassy about 7:30am. We had to stand and wait for windows 8 and 9 to start interviewing people in order to get a seat. We were only allowed to sit in the chairs that became vacant after those persons went to Windows 8 and/or 9.

About 9:30am we were called to Window 5. CO asked for my passport, medical, pictures and police record. She asked \"Have you ever been to the US?" and "Have you ever spent more than 6 months.\" Then I gave my fingerprints. CO said I needed to pay $4 differential fee due the increase in fees. Hey, the lady wanted to know if I would be paying that today? Huh? Like I was gonna go home and come back another day in order to pay $4. Thanks to Visajourney.com I was prepared for that additional fee anyway!! I went to window 10 (cashier) to make the payment and brought back the receipt to the CO at Windown 5. She said I should sit and wait for my number to be called again.

However, we never got called to window 9 for the actual interview until about 10:30am. My husband came up to the window with me. The CO was a young white guy. He asked us to raise our right hands and we did the swearing in thingy. After that his first question was \"Do either of you have a visitor\'s visa to the US?\" I answered, \"Yes.\" He asked to see the passport and said \"I will have to cancel this visa because you can\'t have a visitor\'s visa and a green card at the same time.\" I was thinking, \"How can you cancel that visa and you have not told me that I am approved?\" LOL.

Once that was canceled he pushed back the passport to me. Then, he asked my husband to take a seat while he ask me a few questions. Told me to take up the phone. Here are the questions I can remember:

How did you meet?
How did the relationship progress after that?
When did you meet?
How many times have you been to the US?
How long have you ever stayed in the US?
When was the last time you visited the US?
Where did you stay the first time you visited your husband?
How often does your husband visit Jamaica?
How long does he usually stays?
Where did he stay the first time he came?
Does he still have other family members in Jamaica?
Did you get married in Jamaica?
Who was at the wedding?
How many persons were at the wedding?
Did anyone from his side of the family fly down from the US to attend?
Does he send you money? How much? How often?
What does your husband do for work?
Have you ever lived outside Jamaica?
Have you ever been arrested?
May I have your passport? The most recent one please.

He never asked to see any evidence from the nicely arranged expanding file I brought with so much stuff. Weird. We never front-loaded the I-130 with any pictures etc and the CO didn't ask for anything else. He never asked to speak to my husband either. Wow! Amazing!

Once I gave the passport to the CO he gave me the ticket to go to DHL to arrange for the delivery. I said, \"Thank you!\" Not many persons were approved today. A lot of blue slips were issued for new police record and co-sponsors or the co-sponsors evidence of being a US resident (green card) or citizen.

I went to pay DHL while my husband sat and waited outside in the courtyard. Once I was out, we looked at each other and my husband said, \"Mission accomplished beau!\" We were so excited!!! We still are!!! LOL.

It was a smooth process. Thanks to all VJER\'s.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
