Port of Entry Review
Event Date
Port of Entry : Los Angeles
POE Date : 2012-01-23
Got EAD Stamp : No
Biometrics Taken : Yes
Harassment Level : 0
Comments : POE was Edmonton, AB, Canada. Customs officer took my fingerprints electronically and led me to the secondary office. They took all my paperwork and the envelope from the medical. After that I waited. They filled out some stuff, asked me some easy questions (What's your fiance's middle name? What's his birthday? Where does he work?). That was it. They gave me back my passport with the I-94 and I was on my way to my flight into Los Angeles.

Oath Ceremony : 2017-02-15
Comments : Oath ceremony was at Los Angeles Convention Center. Parking was $20.

Had about 1,900 applicants in attendance. Easy process : upon entering the convention center, there were signs up pointing us in the right direction. Had to go through metal detectors, my husband and I were not able to go through together, there are a separate area for guests. Once inside, there was a long line of tables with officers sitting who were taking our Oath letters and Green Cards. They wrote down a number on there we would need after. Then we were seated. We were allowed to bring our cell phones and camera in, cell phones should be silenced but you use them for pictures.

The judge arrived and had us recite the Pledge of Allegiance. The Star Spangled Banner was sung. There was a speech by the judge, and a music video. Voter registration applications were handed out. Nice ceremony.

At the end, we went back to the long line of tables from before, to the number that corresponded with the number we were given earlier, and the officer took our green cards and letter and gave us our certificate! Then we were all rushed out, lol.

There were a lot of vendors. You can buy a nice leather folder for your certificate, they come in a lot of different colors. $10. You could also get your passport photos taken and your application filled out and everything.

But yeah, after we got out, we took some more pictures, and drove home. Woo, it's over! All I gotta do now is get my new SSN and passport!

Event Description

Embassy Review : Super easy. The hardest part was waiting. The officers were nice. We waited outside until being let inside to go through a little security section. Led up the stairs and into the elevator, up to the 20th floor. Went to Window B, turned on the light and a nice lady came and took my forms and documents and such. Sat down for maybe 5 minutes, was called up again to Window 6 and the guy there was also really friendly. Asked us a few questions, about my plans once I'm in the States, our wedding plans, how we met and all that. And then we talked about games because Daniel and I met online, Final Fantasy XI, haha. And that was about it. We went back to Window B, the lady before told us we were approved and what do to and that was about it! We worried needlessly. They didn't need to see any of our evidence or even our photographs, nothing. Done. Overall a pleasant, reassuring even if a bit of a anti-climactic experience!
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
