Oath Ceremony : 2014-08-22
Comments : Put in line for interview on April 3 2014. Appointment letter sent out on April 17 2014. Received additional information letter (asking to bring driver's license to interview) on April 23 2014. Did not receive original appointment letter. Called USCIS on May 16 2014 to put in service request. Told to wait another 30 days before calling back.

UPDATE: On advice from fellow VJers I discovered INFOPASS and scheduled an appointment with my local office. I went in on June 6 2014 to ask for a case update. They had not received a service request, and I had MISSED my interview date - it was scheduled for May 27 2014. They were kind enough to reschedule it but notified me that if I had not gone in within 30 days of missing my interview date I would have been automatically DENIED.

On June 11 2014 I received a new interview letter for a new interview date: July 17 2014.

Interview went very smoothly, took 15 minutes at the most. Everyone was very nice. Officer said to expect a letter for my oath ceremony within two months.

Received my oath letter on August 6, 2014 (dated August 5, 2014). Oath ceremony scheduled for August 22, 2014.

Oath ceremony was semi-formal but everyone was very kind. Lasted about two hours. I'm now (finally!) a naturalized US citizen!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
