Embassy Review : |
Well my Papi got there early (around 8:30am) and he was greeted by a short older lady (possibly Chinese) who riddled him with inappropriate questions. She kept asking him why was he not married(seeing as he is 39 years old) and why would he want to marry a foreigner and not an Indian girl. I guess it is a sin to be over the age of 35 and not married? So she takes his paper work and disappears. He waits, and waits, and waits. He is then interviewed by an Indian man. They interrogate him for one and a half hours. Repeatedly asking him why he is not married, why won't he stay there with his mother, why would he give up his career, and so on and so forth. Meanwhile the short old lady is calling his job and mother (without his knowledge).
The lady called his mother's house asking where was his wife! His mother baffled tells the woman he was not home and he has no wife. So what does she do, she calls his job! Luckily his good friend and co-worker was there to answer. She asked him where was his wife and why was he not married!
So after 7 hours at the consulate, they tell him, \"your visa has been approved and should arrive by courier in 3 days, sorry for the inconvenience.\"
He almost missed his flight back home (Trivandrum). We both did not think it would take 7 hours for this interview. Most of the time he was just waiting around. I have no idea why this lady had it out for him but she did not make it easy.
Meantime other couples and interviewees came and went, while my poor Papi sat there waiting.
But we are truly blessed that our visa was approved. It was pure fate and God. However the passport took almost 7 days to arrive.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
