Local US CIS Office Review: Tucson AZ

Event Description
Review Date : February 2, 2010
Embassy Review : We had the appointment at the Tucson DO at 8 am. It is about 30 mins from our house. Of course it was raining like cats and dogs at the time. We left at 7 am and reached there around 7.45. The security did not let us in!! He said they open at 8 am! They had very little awning and that didnt protect from the rain at all.. so we ran back to the car and waited there until it was 8 am. By that time there were two couples ahead of us standing at the door in the rain. We all went in, after the security check, we were asked to drop the appointment letter in an opening in the wall and was asked to sit in the waiting area. IO came out and called the couple ahead of us. We waited 20 mins , the couple came out of the interview. They didnt look happy at all. IO closed the door and we waited for 10 more mins. She came back and called us. It was about 8.40am. We confidently walked in. I had organized very methodically all the documents. We had two albums- marriage album and our lifestory alblum ( 3.5 years of dating life).

She took us to her office and closed the door. She asked before we were seated to raise our hands and swear that the testimony we give is the truth. Then we sat and immediately she asked us to show identification. Then she asked me so you came to US on a student visa in 2001 and I answered that is correct and then I said I went back to home country and came back on H1B.

At this point the IO looked cool and professional. She then asked my wife to verify SSN, address, Ph # etc.. she asked me the same later. The she asked if we have anything together yet and that she understands if we dont have anything yet since we are newly wed. I told her I have car and health insurance. She asked me to show it , but as I was trying to dig into the folder to find them she asked my wife to show her the wedding album.

She started asking if my wife met my parents and were they at the wedding. She was still looking at the wedding album. Then she looked at us and said I have to approve you right now. She forgot to look at the insurance info..
she didnt ask anything else, no paystubs, no letters, nothing else. She then started explaining about conditional gc and citizenship.

She made us sign a paper that said we were approved conditional gc. She said that I should expect the card in about a weeks time. She asked us if he had any questions. We told her we had no more questions. She then showed us the way out all the way saying that we had a beautiful wedding and she loved the pics.

Then I got out of the building and then remembered looking at other interview experiences that IO usually takes the EAD and I-94. Our IO didnt take either of those! I am not sure what to do. However I just now got two emails saying welcome letter has been mailed and I-130 had been approved.

Thats my interview experience.
Harassment Level : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
