Embassy Review : |
Reached Emabbsy at 8:00 A.M and tried to go inside the Embassy but the security guard checked my appointment letter and asked me to come at 8:30 as my interview was scheduled at 9:00 A.M. I handed over my cell phones and lighter at gate no 5 and they gave me token #37 for my belongings. Entered Emabbsy at 8:30 A.M. the lady at the waiting hall asked for my interview letter and gave me pass# J20 and told me to go inside the Immigrant visa section. I entered the immigrant visa section and waited for my number to come. finally at 9:15 my number popped up on the screen and i approached the counter where the Indian guy sitting on the counter asked for my documents as i was carrying them in my hand. He took my finger prints and asked me few questions like
Q: how many times my fiancee visited India?
A: Three times (Oct 2008, Feb 2009, Aug 2009)
Q: what my fiancee is doing in America?
A: OSG Coordinator.
Q What OSG stands for?
A. To be honest i dont know.
Then he gave me the reciept and asked me to pay the fees at Counter # 21.
After that i was called for the interview at around 10:00 A.M
Now the interview was with the American lady who was very polite, kind and gentle in her tone and the fact she gave me a lot of respect. I greeted her with a Good Morning wish and she replied i am fine thank you. How are you and i replied back with i am exited and happy thank you. then she started asking questions like
Q. How and when i met my Fiancee?
A. i met her in Taj residency bangalore in the month of October.
Q. My Date of Birth?
A. 23 Aug 1982
Q. What is the job profile of my Fiancee?
A. gave her a detailed answer about my Fiancee job.
Q. Do you have pictures with you?
A I showed her some 70 pictures and she looked at them very carefully.
Q. have i ever travelled out of India before?
A.Yes, i was working for a Nationalised bank in Dubai.
Q. how long you worked there?
A. Five Months and i came back.
Then she stood up and gave me the 221g stating my Passport is Damaged and please submit the new passort at the nearest VFS office.
All in all the interview was good.
Note:- make sure you have tons of documentry evidence with you to prove your relation and be confident and honest with your answers. If you are honest nothing will stop you from getting the Visa. Wishing everyone lots of luck
So Today on 17 December our Visa is issued.

Embassy Review : |
Arrived in Newark at 4:30 A.M EST after 15 hr 30 min long flight. Went for immigration and a very sweet lady greeted me with Christmas wishes and told me to stand in queue at counter # 4. After waiting in the queue for some 5 mins the officer called me and i approached him. Took my fingerprints and the K1 packet. After doing something with his computer he asked me to come with him. He handed my file to the other officer sitting on the other side of the airport, who then placed it on the counter and left it there.
Despite all the positive reviews on POE - Newark I found myself waiting for over two hours before my passport was picked up from the counter. I had a 3 hr 17 min layover so I thought I had plenty of time. When I informed the customs officer of my approaching departure he told me to be patient, as "they" were working on my case. It was 7min before my scheduled departure when my passport was finally returned to me. In the end I missed my flight and had to wait nearly 11hrs for a flight out to San Fransisco.
I should mention that there were only two other K1 Visa holders in line and they received their passports after 5 mins of them being picked up. A 27hr 40min journey turned into 38hrs. I missed christmas because of their careless approach. My fiance and I read all the reviews on POE's here and we had planned enough of a layover. I guess this goes to show you that it is always better to have a longggggggggggg layover just in case. |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
