USCIS rejected our original EAD application by mistake - thinking we had used the wrong form, which we hadn't; and not included a payment, which wasn't required because I'd included a copy of the receipt notice for my I-485 application. I resubmitted the application exactly as before and it was thence accepted. Unfortunately this delayed processing by 16 days! |

Embassy Review : |
This was my 6th visit to the US Embassy in London, having been previously for J-1 visas five times! As such I was pretty much prepared for everything they expect. I even left the remote keyfob for my car behind one of the wheels so I had absolutely no metal on me whatsoever.
The embassy had opened up late due to a power failure, which meant there were quite a few people in front of me with earlier appointments than the current time, but the processed the line very quickly and I was inside the building about 30 minutes after arrival.
I had the 6th immigrant visa ticket for the day, and they were processing the third one when I got to the main waiting area. I had hoped there would be some preference given for immigrant visa interviews, but unfortunately not. On this particular day they went at a ratio of about 130 non-immigrant visa tickets to each individual immigrant visa ticket. It took about two and a half hours to be seen at the first window, where the officer found my middle name (mother's maiden surname) hilarious, which was rather rude, but I was too tired to object. I received my x-rays from the Knightsbridge doctors at this time and then returned to wait for the second stage, about another 40 minutes this time.
The second officer was a nice man, he asked me one or two questions about how I met my fiancee and ten explained that he'd already gone through my files and was happy with everything so told me I was approved and "Welcome to America!"
The line for the passport courier service was very short, so I was on my way quickly.
Advice for others - take a book (but don't fall asleep!) |

Timeline Comments: None yet, be the first!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
