Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : March 8, 2010
Embassy Review : Hello everyone!i have 3 kids(k2).the oldest is my cousin that i adopted(i have documents to show!) We arrived early for the interview.I had been told to be confident but truly i was a nervous wreck! my kids' noise and presence eventually helped calm me a little. I was called and the CO was polite and asked for the medicals and birth certificates. he smiled at me and asked me if the kids were all my BIOLOGICAL kids. i said two were and one was adopted. he asked to see the adoption papers and I gave to him. he asked how i met my fiance, i said we met online. He asked if we had met and I said yes and he asked when and I told him how old he was and the CO pointed out that that my fiance was much older than I was. I said I liked it that way!,I was asked where he worked and lived, what car he used.I was also asked when i saw him last which was 1 year and 5 months.he asked me why we had not met again for so long and i said his mom had had strokes 4 times which kept him each planned trip. this did not seem to make any points for me but the CO did not pursue the question. He asked me to tell him in detail what my fiance did at work and I described it very briefly(i had practiced with my guy!)which satisfied him.
To cut everything shot, i was asked to go back to Kamoras clinic and get a signature they omitted and I was told to send the consulate an email when i get the right signature so as to get another appointment! i thought I wld cry. I was so upset with Kamoras but there was nothing I could do, so I went back to get the signature on my medical result and I sent email same day stating that i was ready for another interview. i was lucky I got another date within 2 weeks! i had to fly back to Abuja from Lagos with my kids and spend more money to fly back again in about 2 weeks just because someone at the clinic forgot to do their job!!
we got back on the interview date and I gave the CO all the documents showing bonafide relationship with my fiance which included pictures of us and the kids when he visited Nigeria, western union, lots of emails and phone records(the CO read just 1 email!)my Fiance sent loads of documents to show he could financially take care of us and the CO refused to look when I offered to show him.he got up and went away and returned and gave me a paper saying when to pick my visa!
I was a single mother with 3 kids and 1 adopted in Nigeria,I thought I would face lots of problems, but I did not.God is faithful!!
Rating : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
