Embassy Review : |
We arrived to Toronto Nov 17 from Lima, Peru. We needed to pass through Canadian Immigrations because of other reasons, so we spent much of our 7.5 hr layover just walking around the huge airport. Our bags had automatically been moved from our Lima flight to the US terminal. After spending time in the airport walking and looking around, we headed to the US terminal around 1:30, as our flight departed at 5:30 and we didn't know how long it would take. We went to the room where our bags were located. We picked up our bags and showed our baggage claim tickets to a security man. He let us pass and we entered into the immigration area of the US terminal. There were VERY few people there and we had no wait at all. We walked to an open line and we were greated by a very nice lady. She was very pleasant with us. She asked Talia to use the finger printing machine for both hands. She then stamped our passports and instructed us to move to a room to the left. She congratulated us and wished us "good luck with the wedding". We moved to the room to the left and we found 1 couple waiting as well as another man trying to pass through with a worker visa. We gave the agent our packet and he instructed us to sit down. THe man with the worker visa was to fill out an I-94 form but was having problems. THe agent then asked me to come up and get the I-94 for Talia and fill it out, which we did. As we were working on our form, I could hear the conversation between the agent and the "work visa" man. Evidently, he didn't have a visa, but rather only an application. The agent kept telling him he had to go to the consulate office and that his previous visa expired 8 years ago! The agent was becoming agitated which I didn't like since we were NEXT in line. We waited quietly for 10 more minutes and the agent said "ok.. everything is ready. Do you understand the requirements of the K1?" we said yes and he then just handed us a SSN instruction form and sent us on our way. It was so very simple and smooth. No questions asked. From the time we arrived to pick up our bags to the time we had passed through immigration, rechecked our bags and passed through security, we had spent only 30 minutes. |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
