Embassy Review : Details about my wife's interview from last night:

She left hotel at 6:00 am with her father. After depositing her personal items at the convention center which is few blocks away from the embassy I think, then she took the embassy shuttle to get there. It was raining the whole time. Finally after waiting in line outside in the rain, they started to let people in and she was in the embassy by 7:50am.

At the entrance the first thing they did was took her fingerprints, the guy looked at my wife and told her to relax as he said to her that everybody is getting approved today so don't worry, he was trying to make her feel relax, I think. (No fees charged for fingerprints).

Then he took her interview letter from her and told her to go sit and wait till her name is called.

Then at counter 5 she was called by her name. The guy at this counter was a different guy. He took her passport and told her to go sit and wait till her name is called again.

Then at window 6 she was called again by her name. The guy at this counter asked her that how long it has been since her marriage. He also asked her that if she has some other passport size photographs with her. He showed my wife the photographs that we had originally submitted to NVC and I think he wanted to comapre and make sure if she is the right person. Then my wife showed her the passport size photographs that she had with her and he compared with the ones that he had and returned it. Then he asked for the medical report and police certificate. We had submitted photocopy of the police certificate only to NVC so he took the original from my wife and gave her back the photocopy. Then he crossed the medical envelop with some pen marks on them and then he gave her an informational slip on which there is a serial number and some information about collecting the passport if she gets approved then she will need to follow these steps to get her passport back.

Then she was told to go sit and wait again for her final interview.

Then she was called once again at Window 2. The CO was a young guy with eye glasses with black frame and he had a big smile on his face. My wife was the last one in immigrant category to be called for interview. The officer was speaking in both English and Urdu. My wife told me that there were two other applicants that got approved and two that got rejected before her call.

But let me tell you a little background about me. I got married in 2006 when I had a green card. I filed I130 for my wife in 2006. So we knew it takes a long time. Her category was F2A. But I got my citizenship in February this year so I got her case upgraded to IR1.

So her final interview stared.
He first laughed right away as he looked at her. He asked my wife:

How r u?
My wife replied i am fine and she asked him the same quesion and he replied with smile, Allhamdullillah, he is fine too.

Here is the list of question he then asked. He was constantly smiling and laughing and in a very jolly mood according to my wife.

1. What's your name.?
2. Who is ur petitioner.?
3. What is your husband's name?
4. When did he got his citizenship?
5. How long he has been there in the USA?
6. When did you get married.?
7. Why did your husband go to USA ?
8. What did he study over there, high school or college?
9. Where does he live in US?
10.How were you guys get introduced ?
11. DO you have pics of your wedding?
12. How many times your husband visited you?
13. Is this his first wedding?
14. Is this your first wedding?
15. When did he visit you ?(yearly, or in 6 months etc..)
16. Then he commented on a photo in which we were sitting in a restaurant and the plates were upside down on the table since the food had not served yet, he said, so he eats in upside down plate and he smiled , my wife smiled too. he looked at each and every picture in detail.

17. Do you have kids?
18. Have you ever visited America?
19. Have you ever applied for a visa for USA?
20. Why did it get refused? (my wife tried for a visit visa after we had filed for I130 in 2008, but it was refused and told her to wait a little more for her immigrant process to be completed.)
21. What do you do now a days?
22. Is he related to you?
23. How many people attended the wedding?
24. Did his parents attend the wedding?
25. Where was the marriage took place?
26. Will you work in the USA?

Then he said, OK congratulation your case has approved. Inshallah we will contact you in 2 weeks so you can collect your passport from American express office in Karachi. Many many congratulations to you.

He then returned the original documents to my wife.
He took her phone numbers so the american express office can call her to come and pick her passport.

My wife was done at 10:30 am their time.

Now she is on her way back to Karachi.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
