Consulate Review: London, United Kingdom
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : December 1, 2009
Embassy Review : I'll try a go at writing this review as told to me by my fiance, Tom.

The appointment was for 8am, he got there at 6:30am unintentionally, the cab showed early, no traffic, so arrived way early.

Goulds Pharmacy doesn't open til 7:30am, so he found a coffee shop, hung out for a bit, got ancy, walked to embassy, saw a line forming, walked back to Goulds, still not open, asked a guy in the coffee shop if he'd hold his phone and keys, lol, and told him he'd pay him the 5 pounds or whatever, guy said, okay, lol, but didn't want the money. So then he hurried back to the line in the pouring rain. One guy said "the Americans must be testing us, offering no shelter", lol, and offered to share his umbrella, lol.

A security women in full weather gear came through checking appointment letters and passports,in the pouring rain, Tom was all worried about his paperwork getting wet.

Then there was another check of passport n letter, then metal detector check point, walked passed smoke hut, lol, once inside got a number, after a while got called to infamous "grumpy" oriental women, lol, especially grumpy on a Monday morning coming off a holiday weekend, lol. She took the usual : birth certificate, police cert., and in our case divorce papers...all w/copies, his passport, photos, took one look at my I-134 and was like "what's this, just child support" lol, at the time i sent paperwork was unemployed, so she handed it back to him, ha ha, good thing I had 2 co-sponsors, my mom's is all she took, didn't need my stepfathers, I am blessed with such a loving giving family.

sorry this is getting long-winded

He was finger-printed, directed to pay fee, filled courier form, they called his number again, this time a middle-aged American man, asked "how long have we known each other, how long have we been engaged, and what are your travel plans. And I'm happy to inform you you are approved", something along those lines, lol. Fiance said, "lovely, and thank you", ha ha

in and out of there in 1 1/2 hours, not bad

Got phone back and called me 4:30am, says, "I've got bad news, (grrr, sense of humor, lol) COMING TO AMERICA"

Oh one thing they said, that because of holiday they are back logged and hopefully his Visa will arrive before his flight on Monday, yikes!!! Suggested same day delivery which he did.

I am very thankful for VJ and the people here who share their knowledge and experiences, .....a tremendous help and source of encouragement. Thank you, Ann Marie & Tom

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
