Consulate Review: Peru
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : October 20, 2009
Embassy Review : This was a joke. They called us up to the window a couple times to ask a couple basic processing questions. We finally got up to the window for the 3rd time after waiting several hours and they asked us just a few questions.

'where/how did you meet'
'what do you do currently in the USA (to me)'
'what do you plan on doing in the usa (to her)'

Then they said, OK i think we can approve this. They didn't look at our pictures that we brought. They only briefly glanced at our passports showing out meetings outside the USA in various countries.

I suppose they must have approved it in their minds without even really needing to talk to us.

We assumed we were going to get approved so there was no rejoicing really.

We did see other couples leave with sad looks on their faces. They were taken into a back interview room. For whatever reason they didn't even take us into a back room they just helped us at the front counter.

She picked up her Visa a few days later at the embassy.
Rating : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.

** Not all cases are transfered
