Consulate Review: Guangzhou, China
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : December 4, 2010
Embassy Review : My Chinese fiancee's interview with her visa officer was about 15 mins.

how ever, the visa office didn't ask any of the evidence that we prepared (phone call history, photos, etc) , ONLY asked questions.

Interview with my Chinese fiancee:

1. Would you like to be interviewed in English or Chinese?

Answer: Doesn’t matter, whichever is fine.
2. How did you meet? and When?

Answer: We met at a concert in New York City on Sept 28, 2004.
3. When did you start this relationship after you met?

Answer: We officially began our relationship on April 23, 2005.
4. How old is your American fiance, the petitioner? What’s your age difference?

Answer: 3 years difference.
5. How do you think of your age difference?

Answer: I don’t feel we have any age difference, doesn’t matter and bother us at all.
6. Why is your American fiance still in school at his age?

Answer: He has studied overseas and then transfered back to the States. Also, he’s been working ever since moved back to the States while was in school.

Answer: He’s general manager at his family medical business.
8. What's your job?

Answer: I’m a Sales Manager at .... in China.

Answer: I’m in charge of sales from 3 cities of a province, my clients are ........
10. What's your job description?

Answer: I manage clients accounts, lead my sales team under my management generate huge
profit for the company....
11. Do you use English at work?

Answer: Yes, I need to translate English documents into Chinese.
12. How many time has your petitioner, your American fiance been to China?

Answer: Twice.

Visa officer said : "Now let me ask you a question in Chinese":

13. 你是中国共产党员吗?(are you CPP?)

Answer: 不是。(No, I’m not)

(

Back to interview in English):

14. Does the petitioner obtain financial incentives to marry you?

Answer: NO!
15. Who is your co-sponsor?

Answer: He is a family friend of my parents.
16. Why he co-sponsors you?

Answer: Because he offered to co-sponsor me, and my fiance’s parents offered too, but they have 2 new businesses taking place, so I didn’t want to bother them to do extra paper work.

Visa officer: Congratulations! your visa is approved.
You can go to the States and get married.
My chinese fiance: Thank you so much. You have a wonderful day.

Visa officer: Thanks, you too.

The entire interview, the visa officer DID NOT ask for the support evidence AT ALL, meaning the visa officer DID NOT check our call history, boarding pass, photos...etc.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
