Event Description

Embassy Review : a blessed day for us today. i was infront of USEM at exactly 5am and i was the first in line when we were allowed entry at 6am. forms were checked once we were seated and i was given queing number.

i was done with finger scanning around 7am and just started reading my book when my number was flashed for pre-screening at window 19. the filipino guy was nice but a little meticulous on my requirements. good thing all my documents are in order, he asked for birth cert, nbi, police clearance in bahrain where i used to work for 3 years, my annulment papers and had to ask his superior why was our petition approved even if we got the annulment finality only in feb 2009 and we applied for the petition in jan 2009. i told him we got the decision in dec 2008, it was ok'd. whew! he asked me what was the ground for annulment and if i am the petitioner or respondent. he asked what does mike do for a living and he encircled his annual income while taking down notes as well.

he also asked me several questions like where did we meet, when was mike's last visit to PI, how many kids i have and how old are they, what is my job, how old is he, how old i am, etc. he then asked for our photos, chat logs, emails, snail mails but not the phone bills. he commented on how organized i am with my papers and he wished me luck on my final interview.

around 9am my number flashed again on the board and i waited outside room no. 29. i waited for about 15 minutes and was asked to enter the room when the previous applicant stepped out. the lady consul was nice and she told me to wait for a few minutes while she's finishing something on her computer. when it was my turn to be interviewed, she first asked me to raise my right hand to swear an oath. first question was if me and my fiance have wedding plans already. i said yes but we want it to be as simple as possible. she browsed on my documents while asking questions about my annulment, my fiance's divorce, his job, his kids and she was amazed when i answered her question on how many times my fiance visited PI. she gave me an opportunity to talk about mike's health when she asked me if mike is staying alone in his house. i told her about mike's bypass surgery 3 weeks ago and that his dad and his siblings take turns in helping him recuperate. she said all my papers are complete and in order and even commented me on how good my english is, then said: "Your visa is approved"! i thanked her and requested if i can just pick up my passport with the visa rather than wait for Air 21 to deliver to my house in san pedro, laguna because i said i want to do my CFO seminar soon and fly to be with my fiance the earliest possible time to help him recover from his surgery. she immediately picked up a slip and put my name on it then told me to wait outside for my number to be called one last time for further instruction.

in less than 5 minutes my number was called for window 37. the lady there asked for my contact numbers and told me to wait for their call as to when i can pick up my passport/visa.

i was out of the embassy at exactly 9:30am, hungry but very much relieved!

i can only say that the process inside may be tidious but it's very orderly. staff are very much willing to help in order for everyone to get done with their applications smoothly. just make sure your documents are complete and the forms are filled up properly.

good luck to everyone and God bless us all!

Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
